John Flowerdew assumes Beverly to be the Doctor’s apprentice [they don't try to correct him] and offers to have them all come inside to talk and have drinks. Dudley makes a snarky remark about the Pope and the Doctor makes a snarky remark about Beverly’s cover story options.

She’s starting to sound like him. That’s good – the Doctor needs someone who can almost run rings around him.
When Bev said ‘infernal cheek’ I had a flashback to a similar comment made by 6 in The 10 Docs. Shame she didn’t call him a tosser like 9 did!
@Doctor’s Son – Isn’t she just parroting the Doctor? I thought he used that line a couple pages ago…
So (referring to Wikipedia)… Pius IV? Based on Amy being near death, but not quite there.
I am loving the chemistry between Beverly and The Doctor. Great stuff.
I love the witty dialogue.
And Bev and the Doctor are developing quite a chemistry. I’m glad she’ll be around for a while.
A new page
Good use of a snow day!
I agree, the chemistry with Beverly and the Doctor really works – and she can choose a cover that keeps her at his side in the thick of the action/plot now.
Mark: Yep, right Pope.
“Infernal cheek.” Yup! That’s our Doctor, in EVERY life!
Loving this, Rich and Hilary!
*Giggle* Way to throw it back at him, Beverly. ;D
@mrfranklin
It was “confounded cheek” the Doctor said 3 pages back, but “cheek” nonetheless.
Hee! Love the Doctor’s grin in panel 8. “Infernal cheek” indeed!
Oh thank god, the long dry spell is over.
Funny, I didn’t used to like Pertwee’s Doctor (maybe because I’m such a Troughton fangirl). But he’s pretty kickass. And I lurve that opera cloak.
Is it just me or is this page…tilted?
Xerol: You’re absolutely right. I scanned and cropped it in a bit of a rush. Also as the generations of photocopied templates go on they skew and distort so that it won’t come out straight anymore. That is occasionally the time when I reprint a new ‘original’.
I wonder how Beverley would cope with a prolonged drinking session involving “Real Ale”, considering it’s alcohol strength of around 10%…?
Note: Most modern beers would be considered to be “small beer”, strength wise, by Elizabethan standards…
Methinks that “watering the horse”, might be a better option…
(Or is the “Plague”, waterbourne…?)
@Serosis – Thanks… I didn’t go back and check before posting. At least I remembered correctly that he’d complained of someone’s “cheek”!
I love a cheeky Doctor!
