With a lead to the whereabouts of Lord Dudley, the Doctor and Beverly head off to the stables. Beverly meets a curious fellow with a snake emblem on his shoulders who points Dudley out to her. She rushes over to greet him just as he is ambushed by an ugly mob with rapiers!

I noticed a bit of similarity between our Mr. Black-Adder and another Who Character. Wears Black. Likes pointy little beards. Shows up at different points in time with devious plans that almost always seem to fail…..

I’ll admit, I didn’t realize who that was until I saw the comments. On looking back at the page, I can definitely hear Rowan Atkinson saying that line.
Our local PBS station really needs to start showing Blackadder again. It’s been far too long.

I will assume this is blackadder from the television series though and not the movie. Though i would LOVE to see the doctor meet blackadder in the storyline of the movie and see the arguments over blackadders irresponsability with time travel.

He He He! I wasn’t so much a Doctor Who fan until this comic strip – and now the Blackadder! That’s just marvelous, I love crossovers. I did also enjoy the crossover of Doctor Who in the YAFGC-strip, which is what brought Rich to my attention. All thumbs up, Rich!

Haha, yes. The Doctor has the skills to totally mess those thugs up, but he’s not the biggest fan of Lord Dudley… So even with the Doctor’s heroic inclinations, we don’t necessarily know if he’s coming to Dudley’s rescue.
And Beverly is so cute, so eager to meet this subject of historical interest that she ignores pretty much everything else, including Black Adder’s less than subtle hints about the man. Heehee, warm mashed turnips…

OMG Rich, I was NOT expecting that. I too thought it was the Master at first, then I took a second look and just wet myself laughing. The dialogue is spot on, too. This just gets better all the time.
Ugh. *Grimaces* I just happen to have just read “Saving Juliet,” (great book) so I know *exactly* what a codpiece is. Um. So, wow. Either he’s a wack guy or he has wack enemies. I shall reserve judgement until we actually meet the guy, though, even though I already have an opinion. (One reason: Snape. Hated him. Thought he was evil, all that. Been kicking myself since Book 7.)
Speaking of his enemies…I see “Blackadder” a number of times up top. Something I missed from the First Run, I presume?
Anyway, way tokeep up the good work, Rich. I’ve noticed that artists really good at people often have trouble with animals, and vice versa, but your horses are great! Plus the Doctor in Panel 7 and Beverly in Panel 8.

How many — other than myself — didn’t catch on until the exposition box pointed out the snake emblem on his jacket? The turnip remark should’ve clued me in; I just thought it was a weird part of his insulting ramble at the time. Oh, well…

Lord Blackadder!! Huzzah! Thanks, Rich. You captured his Elizabethan incarnation’s dialogue to a “T”. I don’t think the Doctor would quite have the same level of respect for Queen Bessie if she behaved in this world as she did in Blackadder II. Much as I’d love to see Baldrick, Lord Melchert, Nursie, Lord Flashheart and/or Redbeard Rum show up, I think this is a straight historical with a BA cameo, not a DW/BA crossover in the way “Forever Janette” was a DW/FK crossover.
I watched Blackadder on PBS when I was a teenager… about twenty years ago! I only vaguely remember the show. Now I’ll have to watch them all again!
