The Doctor convinces Janette that she should go with him in the TARDIS to see places and things she’s never seen. She hesitantly agrees and they dematerialize to new adventures in time and space.
The End.
Thanks for reading and stick around, there’s more to come! Stay tuned for the next exciting Doctor Who comic, this time a collaboration between Hilary and I, entitled: “Doctor Who – The Stalker of Norfolk”!
And once I’ve had a chance to go over the pages and fix spelling mistakes and little minutia of that ilk, the entire story of “Doctor Who – Forever Janette” will be made available here in PDF format!

This is fantastic. Thank you for this wonderful story and artwork! Cant wait for more….
Wow, that was really short!
Thanks for the brilliant story, Rich. I’ll be on edge of my seat just waiting for the next one!
Thanks again Rich for another wonderful ride
Wonderful ending. I hope that you keep up the good work.
Whoo! Fantastic comic Rich. Utterly fantastic. Can’t wait to see “The Stalker of Norfolk”
A story that can be read in under an hour! Wonderful!
I have become a firm fan of Forever Knight now, Rich…. I’ll never forgive you for this.
Thanks for this comic – Have enjoyed it from start to finish ! Looking forward to the next one – Thanks again !
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not expecting that!!
GREAT final page to Forever Janette! *applauds*
Like Cleverest Name, I wasnt expecting that either. I didnt think the Doctor would really offer her a trip unless he had already cured her – I thought he was offering a way to make her mortal
Looking forward to the next story!
Nice comic, but Norfolk? PLEASE! COME ON! Have you *Been* to Norfolk? Imagine the dullest, flattest, remotest place on earth, where the people have funny eyes, six fingers and where visitors are unwelcome and treated with suspicion?
Have you heard of the Traditional Norfolk Wedding? “Please listen to the speech from the father of the bride and groom.”
Does the film “Deliverance” mean anything to you? Imagine that, but with barley instead of woods, and straw hats.
Norfolk?
This I *gotta* see!
Great work Rich, the whole story has been a blast! Hope to see more from 8 and Jeanette in the future!
Looks like the next will be a UNIT story! Hopefully more Brig than we got in 10 Docs!
Thanks again Rich!
Oh nice one! If anyone knows how to relieve the crushing boredom of eternity it’s the Doctor!
Oh and I forgot….. Re: the next story…… TRADITIONAL U.N.I.T. INSIGNIA?!?!?!?!?! The Brig? Benton? Yates? Either way….. [Kermit the frog voice] Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy![/Kermit the frog voice]
Excellent story! Thanks very much for sharing your work, Rich!
So, from the preview page, I notice two things. First, the logo is that of the 3rd — and 8th — Doctor. Makes me wonder if the next story will immediately follow this one, and feature 8 and Janette.
The second thing I notice is that the credit says “By Rich and Hilary”. Not sure if that’s giving credit where credit is already due, or if Hilary is doing some scripting on this one, or what… but I’m looking forward to it!
Good story, Rich. Well told. And an ending that promises all manner of mayhem to come
And to everybody who thinks that taking a vampire through space & time is an unworkable idea, relax. There’s plenty of stars in the ‘verse that don’t put out enough UV to give you a tan, or a vamp a burn. Besides, I’m sure the Doctor could use his sonic screwdriver to triplicate the SPF of a tube of sunscreen, or something.
Onwards to “The Stalker of Norfolk,” with U.N.I.T. (not Un.I.T.). Third Doctor, I expect?
Mark: I’ve been an unofficial story consultant for Rich’s comics off and on all through, but this one upcoming is the first time I’m taking an active role in scripting and writing a comic story with him as opposed to asking questions and making suggestions after the fact/first draft. You can assume that everything you like about the story is his, and I’ll take the blame for the stuff that doesn’t work.
she said yes O_o
HURRRRRAY!
hope she has fun!
and good old doctor!
THANKS RICH THAT WAS A FANTASTIC COMIC AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE
Thanks! You’re the best!!
As I’ve said once or twice before, it’s really striking how this comic doesn’t require a reader to have a lot of Forever Knight knowledge. I went in barely aware that the show existed, and followed this story fine. I wonder if the same would be true for readers who know FK but not Doctor Who? I tend to doubt it. Forever Knight has a premise you can apparently catch up on without too much trouble, but Doctor Who could be pretty baffling if you didn’t know going in that Doctor Five and Doctor Eight were the same guy, how the Tardis worked, etc.
Anyway, very impressive work. Looking forward to the next story!
Wish we’d got more of Five + Nyssa and less of Eight, but other than that: brilliant.
Can’t wait for the next story. *hopes for One or Seven this time*
Doh, just noticed the UNIT logo, Three I’m guessing.
I really loved the whole thing and am looking forward to more. Especially more UNIT.
Ha! I knew that it wasn’t having sex with some dude that made Janette a human. I’m glad you were here, Morris, to set the record straight.
I can’t wait for more.
(Applause!)
Yay! Janette will make an awesome Companion! Thanks, Rich, for a great story. I’m looking forward to the next installment.
Wonderful! I’m sad to see that this is the end, but I’m happy with the ending if that makes sense.
And, yes, I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Thanks for another fantastic story, Rich – it was interesting and fun, and even as someone who’d never heard of Forever Knight (and has tried, and failed, to catch up with some during the run of the story) I really enjoyed it. And here’s to the first instalment of “The Stalker of Norfolk”…
So, so incredibly excellent, man.
thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Stalker of Norfolk? Is it Stephen Fry?
Archibravo!
I was half expecting him to get turned down again after the way The Ten Doctors went down.
Also – what lovely hands!
Also also, I heartily second Stressfactor’s enthusiasm! (although my Kermit voice is not as good). If not here, though, someday I want to see the top secret used car salesman plot, because that made my day.
Good story Rich! Thanks for the Introduction to FK. As always, I look forward to your future stories and artwork. If you are trying to tie-up a “loose end” in FK (i.e., Janette changing from vampire into a human between seasons 2 and 3), I find it very clever to use Doctor Who. I’ve expressed my concerns about a vampire in the TARDIS earlier, but I have confidence that the Doctor, you, and Hilary can make it work. BOL.
Bravo!
Thank you for yet another wonderful story!
@spufidoo: The planet Norfolk! Or, y’know…not.
spufidoo — “Please listen to the speech from the father of the bride _and_ groom.”
Had to re-read that twice before I got it…
I like the open endedness of this ending. Can’t wait for the next series, although I was hoping you’d do a Stargate Universe-Doctor Who thing. Perhaps another time…
So I guess this is the end of Forever Janette–now I can go back and read the whole thing from page 1 to page 54. The Stalker of Norfolk, hmmm—will this be a mainly doctor who story, or is it going to cross over with another series? I wonder what incarnation(s) of the Doctor you’re going to use in the Stalker of Norfolk–as much as I love the fifth doctor, you already used him for this story, so you’re probably going to choose another doctor. My bets are leaning toward 10, 4, or maybe 7. It’s your choice I guess. We’ll have to wait until the first page comes up.
Brilliant ending! Wondering if Eight and Janette will show up in the next one? Will have to find out soon!
And the black and white logo of the next story makes me wonder if it will be Two!
Oh, there’s the UNIT insignia behind the broken badges–I missed that the first time I saw the cover! I guess we’ll probably get the third doctor.
Have you heard of the Traditional Norfolk Wedding? “Please listen to the speech from the father of the bride and groom.”
Yes I have been to Norfolk (UK) & attended a wedding almost like that, the mental image of my cousins wife & her hoofing big sisters & mother doing “the lancers” is something no amount of mental bleach can erase from my fathers & my mind, the village hall was shaking worse than the time I was in a empty disco testing out a new sound system playing JM Jarres – Rendevous Number 5 at full blast.
Anyway great story Rich, looking forward to the next one.
Or do you mean Norfolk Virginia?
“Lot of planets have a Norfolk!” Ha!
Possibly more of a “Sacre merde!” moment for Janette there, eh?
Still, classic UNIT to look forward to next *Performs Dance of Joy*
OH **** YES!
Nice ending Rich. I kinda wish I could see Janette and the doctor travelling together
Can’t wait to find out what happens next .
Another great story, Rich. I look forward to the next installment.
Say, any chance of seeing a Doctor Who/Batman crossover comic in the future?
That story ended relatively quickly. Then again, Doctor Who multi- Doctor specials are either extremely long or extremely short. so this nay be the average running time of your non- multi- Doctor comics. How’s my legaleeze. Is it unreadable yet?
Assuming “The Stalker of Norfolk” picks up where “Forever Janette” left off it might be safe to think that Janette’s participation in events will largely confined to the night.
Night is also an excellent time for the Stalker aspect of the story to occur.
Given the clue about the crossover element from the last title is it far too much to hope that my favorite “Night Stalker” Carl Kolchak might turn up as well?
Well done sir. Brought back good memories when Doctor Who and Forever Night were on late Friday and Saturday nights respectively.
Bill “the Doctor”
I would guess by this time the Doctor has compiled a Frequently Asked Questions to be given to new companions to save time explaining everything.
Great ending. Looking forward to “The Stalker of Norfolk.”
But seriously, Rich, you’ve earned a break!
I Enjoyed the story very much, Rich, and look forward 2 the Stalker of Norwich, a tale of intrigue, murder and incest! (Sorry 2 anyone from Norfolk!)
I want it 2 be a 10 story, but would be happy with any Doctor.
Ooo nice end Rich! Very satisfying!
And UNIT and Norfolk! Heyyyy awesome!
Nice, neat ending. I like it!
I’m betting the next one is a 3rd Doc story?
Ooh, I can’t wait to see which Doctor you use next!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem…
Thank you Rich! This is now part of my Canon!
Fantastic! Thanks, Rich – *very* enjoyable (even though I’d never seen Forever Knight and didn’t even know of it’s existence).
And the next one’s in Norfolk – is that UK or US Norfolk? (Well, I’m assuming it’s not the Australian island of the same name). If it’s the UK one (where I live) then I’ll be looking out for local references!
SQUEE!!!!!! That was the ending I was wishing for! Eight finally gets a companion and Jeanette gets to leave LaCroix and Nicholas to sort out their issues (and hopefully she has some fun along the way). Thank you for such a wild ride and I can’t wait for the next one.
Heh heh…bet Janette didn’t think she could still be surprised by *anything*.
Enjoyed the story, and am definitely looking forward to the next one. (Yay UNIT!)
Janette will be a BAD ASS companion!
I am more than surprisd, I am happily satisfied!
Eight is one of my top three Doctors, so to see him get the credit he’s due in some way is always good!
I wonder where it is in good old Norfolk? Norwich? Cromer? Yarmouth? Where? And is the Brigadier there?
I think the next story will be a second doctor one, because the preview picture is in black and white but the ending of FJ is in colour…
just a thought.
super stuff again Rich-’really enjoyed this story-your stuff has really helped fill the gap during this who-lite year!!
is something wrong with the comments? the 8 from this morning are missing, and there aren’t currently 61 (well, 62)
I think YouWillObeyMe is right.
Love the ending..
Once the PDF is out, am willing to turn this (and the next one) into a Comical format so people can read it with Comical and other comic book readers.
Maybe it’s me, but I love to see my comics in a comic format.
applause, great job rich, i’ll be waiting with bated breath for “stalker of Norfolk”-sounds good, i can’t wait.
Just another great job Rich, truly superb. I can’t wait for The Stalker of Norfolk.
What a great ending,it’s just perfect.
Norfolk also suggests it’ll be a Third Doctor story set in the UNIT years.
Excellently done! I knew however you ended it, it would be wonderful, and it was. Thanks Rich.
I presume that had the Tardis not faded at that moment, the line after the Mon Dieu would have been something about it being bigger on the inside than the outside? It’s traditional, after all.
And to the person commenting about it turning out that ’sleeping with some guy’ *wasn’t* how Janette became mortal again. Welllll, that’s *still* a possibility, if you think about it. ‘Some guy’ doesn’t necessarrily have to be *human*, after all.
As ever, Rich, a fantastic story. Great in every way, and I’m looking forward to the Stalker or Norfolk, and the boys n girls of UNIT
Coolness Rich! I was a casual FK fan back in the day, I watched some episodes(bugger, another thing to put on Netflix), and I admit, a sequel to this would be very interesting. If 4 always had a problem with Leela ready to knife anything that looked cross-eyed at her or the Doctor, I can only IMAGINE how Janette would be reacting to the first hostile alien? And, here’s a mind-melter for you: Dalek Death Ray Vs. a Vampire-hmm? Can we imagine how freaked out a Dalek would be, when it zapped something and NOTHING happens?
Fantastic!Great ending and a new comic by you and your wife?Shades of Girl Genius!
Sad to hear of Barry Letts’ death. Best wishes to his family.
loved that tale – hadn’t heard of Forever Knight before – am looking forward to the next one
Great story!
Hmmmm….UNIT is in the new comic? Gee, which Doctor is this? Three? Two? Ten?
Brilliant-ness!
Just Brilliantness – I can’t wait for the next Doctor Who comic saga to begin!
“What have you got to lose?” Well put, Doctor.
::applause::
Congratulations on another great story. Well done, Rich! (And I like the hand acting on this page. Eloquent.)
I look forward to more.
After the Epic of “The 10 Doctors” a 50 pages story feels kinda weird, but it’s good, fast and simple and we can move on to other things, like a Doctor Who/Blake 7 crossover (come on Rich, you know you want to)
Now what do we know about the next story: It’s a UNIT story, it’s an 8 story. Will 8 have to explain the Brigadier that his newest companion is a vampire?
Guys, this is an 8 story, just look at the Logo it’s 8’s
For the record, Maki, that was Three’s logo long before it was Eight’s.
Out-friggin-standing, Rich! The glass is raised! We all shine a bit brighter just witnessing your fantastic work.
Food for thought…three words – Jago and Litefoot. It’s gold, baby…gold!
Was there ever a point in which you were going to have Janette decline the trip of a lifetime, Rich? If so, I’m not sure that I want to know!
I really enjoyed the story, and felt that the way you incorporated two differing doctors from two different periods was a both a brilliant stroke of genius as well as a model as to how modern Who writers can bring back classic characters and iterations of The Doctor back to television.
If Steve Moffat wanted to tell a story of a similar line that spans a couple of time periods for the next big anniversary of the show, he could certainly consult with you as you have shown it is not only possible, but plausible. And entertainly so.
Bravo Rich!
Well done! I am not familiar with FK yet was never lost in this story. That is the sign of great writing. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Hey, that was cool! Great job again, Rich. You rock.
So when can we expect “Stalker”? Not to rush, only to know. I like knowing what’s happening. ;D
All the best,
~CoZ
A very satisfying ending Rich, great job!
Not entirely sure when “Stalker of Norfolk” will start. Soon, is all I will say for the moment. (There was only 1 week between “The 10 Doctors” and “Forever Janette” and that seemed fair, so it won’t be MONTHS and months down the road. We’re just working out a few important story details before getting it going.
Thanks for reading everyone! More is coming!
For me, these “come with me” moments are always the most tense in Doctor Who. I mean, from a practically stand-point, any savvy viewer knows how it will really go down, but there’s always the possibility… And frankly, it’s heartbreaking to think of what these characters miss out on when they say no.
Wonderful, Rich! Just wonderful…
Norfolk? Say no more! A nod’s as good as a wink to a blind bat. Say no more! =)
A delightful and highly satisfying ending, Rich! I hope some day we get to see the further adventures of the Eighth Doctor and Janette, but I am confident that “Stalker” will be equally entertaining – Hilary would not allow it to be otherwise!
Thank you so much!
That was a very enjoyable story, and a skilfull blending of two disperate genra. Thabks, man.
Also: Wooho, UNIT!
*For the record, Maki, that was Three’s logo long before it was Eight’s.*
It’s a 3 story, I know it! I’ve compared all the logos on the logo project, and threes is the closest match ( you’ve got to look at the pattern in the logo).
Anyway, Rich, you rock! I’ve loved both your Doctor Who comics, but this is my first comment! But you’re awesome!
Perhaps something showing Liz’s departure? (Although that’s already in a book, I know that
Rich doesn’t consider them canon, and I would love to see your interpretation of it!)
Another wonderful tale. Thanks for this Rich. I truly appreciate these wonderful stories you give us.
Im impressed- great ending.
Aw, it’s over. Great comic, and I’m glad it leaves the door open for future adventures.
I have to wonder how well Janette and the Doctor will get along- if (at least at first) she’s not out to be ‘cured’, she’ll need to feed, and I can’t see the Doctor being too happy about that. Could make for some good arguments.
Looking forward to the next comic.
Superb! Hip Hip.
Hooray! Great job on this comic Rich- I’ve been following it all the way through. Not only did you write a very good comic tying two shows together, you managed to delve into one of the most open-ended concepts of Dr. Who via regeneration. This was superb, and I can’t wait for The Stalker of Norfolk (the planet, not the city?) (or more Paulus, for that matter).
Hmmm… glad to see this new twist of crossover fate, but I was hoping for kinda tete-a-tete between the Doctor and Lacroix, either a maudlin but brief epilogue where the 10th Doctor talks with Lacroix over whatever memorial the latter may have built in honor of his “children”, or a good in-your-face confrontation with No. 8 at his radio station. I’d imagine if anyone could sppok lacroix, the Doctor can, addressing him by his original name and talking to him in ancient Pompeiian.
Oh, welll. can’t wait for the first Doctor/Janette adventure — I wonder if they’ll bump into the Tetraps?
That was amazing! I can’t wait to see the next comic. You’re really on a roll, “The Ten Doctors”, “House of Paulus”, “Forever Janette”, and now this all without to long of a lag.
Keep up the great work!
I loved this series, great job man, keep it up ^^
That was really good!
Say, you ever thought of doing a Doctor Who/ Blake’s 7 one which is based on what happens after the final B7 episode?
Like during the time after they lost the Liberator and before gaining the special drive for the old ship, Scorpio, things no doubt seemed hopeless. Once they had an advance alien ship and equipment, then later they ended up with an old ship with old equipment which is like trading places with the Federation when it came to who had the better stuff which no doubt made things hopeless and a matter of time before they get them,
Kerr Avon may have been cold and self-preservative, but he wasn’t above revenge, and creating a fail-safe in case the worse happen, like using his genius in being a computer expert to create a hunter program that takes over systems and assassinates whoever is on it’s list and Servalan is the last on the list and on the run which the Doctor must save based on his morals, despite what he learns about the lady.
JustAWanderer: It is? I though 3’s was different. *Checks* Yep, I just check it’s 3’s. So 3 and UNIT, nice; the Brig in his hotter years, I like that. Although, I did wanted to see Janette in action and more of 8. Oh well, there’s the Brigadier.
To be completely honest I’ve never watched Blake 7 (I have to, though). I’m just bringing it up, ’cause someone suggested it earlier (and Rich liked it, Sandman), and I’d love to see the Doctor with Peri (or Mel, or better yet Evelyn Smythe!) in tow, having to face Bayban the Butcher, Maxil would be there for some reason. Now if we could only squeeze Paul Marroney from “The Brothers”… (yes I do love Colin Baker, why do you ask?)
Great comic!
And YAY for another one to come!
@Maki: I love Colin too! :XD
To be honest, I’ve never watched more than one or two episodes of “Blake’s 7″ and when I did catch them I was somewhat younger and found it kind of boring. I felt it was like watching a dull Tom Baker episode where the Doctor never shows up.
I’d be perfectly willing to watch it through sometime and consider a crossover story (though I can’t imagine when I’d find the time to do that, exactly). Just sayin’ I have no immediate plans for that particular universal collision as I don’t know B7 well enough to be inspired for a story.
1) Forever Janette was tremendous, thanks very much!
2) ‘The Stalker of Norfolk’? I’m intrigued. Of all the places in the world…Norfolk?
Rich, if you’d even consider watching Torchwood and doing a comic for it (even just one page or less), I would love you forever. Well… I already will, after the Ten Doctors and House of Paulus and Forever Janette… but… yeah. I know you already said you didn’t see it, and you’ve got a little one, but.. meh.. a girl can dream, can’t she?
Oh, I’ve considered it. I just don’t have a lot of time. There’s lots of things I’d love to do, like watch all the spinoff shows religiously, for example, but it’s not practical. When the show is airing regularly it’s all I can do to keep up with Doctor Who (and there’s still 2 episodes I never got around to watching) plut all the other things I want to watch and do. So, I’m not saying an outright NO to either a “Blake’s 7″ or a “Torchwood” crossover comic, but a not-likely. Though, in all honesty, there doesn’t seem much point in a “Torchwood” crossover with “Doctor Who” for the sake of doing one, since the shows already crossover in places.
Rich, don’t know if you got my message, so I apologize for repeating myself, but I was wondering if you ever considered a Doctor Who/Batman crossover?
Ummm, Rich? I’m only seeing 8 comments. I think this is a problem.
Yes! Janette will travel with the Doctor! Great comic, Rich. As always.
@korafrax: there is a “previous coments” link, under the “submit comment” button.
Rich you know you want to give us the pleasure of having 3 Colin Bakers in the same story! (2 of them are evil and the other’s a Jerk), Even if you don’t care for Blake7
Jim — after reading Rich’s response to suggestions for Blake’s 7 and Torchwood crossovers, I fear your wish for a Batman story — however welcomed by myself as well — gets the same reaction.
To be honest, I’m just wondering where Rich plans to go with his Dr. Who stories, if they _are_ on-going. The “10 Doctors” was one thing, but “Forever Janette” took it in a whole new direction just by being a crossover story. For the moment, I’ll just stand back, let Rich draw great stories, and let his over-all plans for the format that his fanfic webcomics will take become clear on their own.
@Jim
A batman crossover?
I’d rather see a DW/Hitchhikers Guide crossover.
It’d be funny if The Doctor gave the ultimate question for the answer to life, the universe and everything.
“How many Vogons does it take to screw in a lightbulb?”
I haven’t had time to comment much on Forever Janette, but I did really enjoy it. It was fun to see the characters of Forever Knight, who that I hadn’t seen in a long time interacting with the Doctor (especially since it was Eight, who I really like and totally deserved an actual show, and Five who is tied with Two as my favorite Doctor). I loved your artwork – the shading for effect/nighttime and the way everyone was drawn and characterized (perfectly).
Wonderfully fun story – I enjoyed reading Forever Janette as much as I did The Ten Doctors (and once I got into it, House of Paulus). I look forward to your next comic – The Stalker of Norfolk, interesting title – I’m sure it will be a fascinating and cool to read.
Plenty of room for crossovers: any room to take a shot at the “The Prisoner” crossover that dare not speak its name?
“Uhhhh…like, his name’s ‘Number _Two_’. Huh huh huh huh.”
“Shut up, Number Six, you fartknocker. Don’t make me kick your ass. Heh heh heh heh.”
I was guessing that the bullet passing through Pierre before exiting Janette could have had an effect on her, maybe his blood (perhaps also some nanites, depending on what tech the Master used) being what turned her human again by season 3. Didn’t happen, of course, but I am looking forward to seeing both characters again in the future (or the past). Many thanks again, Rich and Hilary. Excellent work!
Doctor 8 and Janette as a companion. Just perfect!!! Is the next Doctor Who story will be D8 and Janette? Stay tune . . . . .
“The Stalker of Norfolk”?
An old school UNIT emblem?
What appears to be a pair of iron crosses – one of them shattered?
I’m hooked.
You know something cool about Doctor Who? That it can be crossover with anything! If you can’t fit a show into the main Whoniverse, you just have to move sideways!
Please see Paul Gadzikowsky’s site for an example of someone doing that:
http://members.iglou.com/scarfman/
http://members.iglou.com/scarfman/archive.htm (this are old comics)
Awesome ending. Surprised her! *giggle*
Het Rick, if your up to suggestions, I have one: make your verson of “The Dark Dimension”
There was a special ment to be a TV-Movie for the 30th anniversary of Doctor Who, “The Dark Dimension” was about an alternative timeline where the 4th Doctor never regenerated. But, it got scrapped.
If you want to do this idea, here’s where the summary is:
http://home.earthlink.net/~qstnmark/melted/dark_dim.htm
(Also, there’s a new kind of Dalek in it, shown here: http://www.scifiscoop.com/news/dalek-storm-the-coolest-dalek-in-town/)
Great comic once again Rich.
Awesome comic, Rich. Sorry to see it end but purhaps there will be more adventures with Eight and Janette?
Thanks to this story, I’m now planning on watching Forever Knight when I get home for winter break (I put the first part on hold on my home library card).
Thanks from Finland, Rich! Awesome story!
