Legal jargon saves the day!!! wot will they do with her now???
Ugh… Yup, Hilary informed me that I spelled “dubious” wrong. I’ll fix it when I get a chance. Didn’t have the inclination this morning.
I’m sure the Romans didn’t invent bureaucracy, they just perfected it
Charming woman… Pity she’s married…
ummm….. odd question, rather off topic here but is the little green thing with multiple eyes usually hovering near the YAFGC link? only asking ’cause i’ve never noticed it b4 and my computers had quirte a few viruses lately so just checking.
Oh and love the slave owners baffled expression
@ghost2502
Thats Bob the Beholder, one of the main characters from YAFGC, so dont worry, he’s safe!
Great page as usual Rich!
Ghost: not to worry; I’ve just been playing with Feedburner.
Rich – it shouldn’t make any difference to anyone if she’s of Dubios Heritage. Haven’t we moved beyond that sort of thing?
Curious: Is this legal provision (whatever it may be) a real thing? Or something that Rich made up for the comic.
Saved by the skin of her teeth or literally her words of her mouth.
Jonathan: I assumed that it was something that Calliope made up.
Which is why whenever a lawyer type starts spouting a long and rambling volume of leagalese you simply agree with them, then stall, then turn the tables, and watch them flounder.
Lawyer: Blah, blah, fast talk, blah, blah
Victim: Hmm, I see. Very well, she is yours…just come in and we’ll sign the transfer forms
Lawyer: Blah blah…huh?
Victim: The transfer form. I had to sign a transfer form, with my lawyer as a witness last time this happened. Normal procedure I understand. I dont want to upset the senate by not following proper procedure. Sorry about all this, I’m sure everything will be cleared up. Okay…and you are..?
I think I might have dozed off during her rambling explanation.
Rich, you misspelled a word in panel 2. It should be “DuBois… heritage” (from the Lex Tenneseensis, or law on slaves dependent on the kindness of strangers). Gotta be careful with those legal terms.
o0 I don’t get it.. XDDD jk.. great page, Rich, as always!
You brighten up my school-filled days with your awesomeness.. I’m so grateful~
hurray for smart women
