Arrrgh…I agree fully with Master in this one. DuVallee has supreme power and he can’t think with anything other than what’s between his legs? Damn (censored) typical.
Still it would be nice to see what the TCE does to a vampire. Since they are tecnically ‘dead’, you cant have the ‘Elimination’ part but the Tissue Compression may still work? Would you end up with a vampire who stalks the night – striking fear in to heard of leprechauns and field mice everywhere?
DigitalOwl – just what I was thinking – see the two of them face off should be fun!
LC – Barbie dolls run in fear! … actually they could masquerade as Barbie dolls couldnt they? “The Transylvania set of Barbie and Ken – don’t miss out! *manufacture’s warrenty void if exposed to sunlight**”
I think I agree with Eric and the Captain. Having the Master turn up under that hat and cloak would be kind of obvious.
(Eric and the Captain … that sounds like a little-known 70s folk/rock duo, doesn’t it?)
aw, just when it was getting good, we go back to the 90s. I’m sorry, but I really love the 1348 subplot, for a pair of certain time travelers. You can guess. Will we see the Fifth Doctor in action soon?
My guess is that Master turned the guy into a vampire to try and find some way to gain immortality and now the guy is drinking blood through the centuries and the Master has come to finish his experiments
Ghost2502: LaCroix is an amoral sociopath. He has a very strong ethical code of his own (once his word is given, it’s given), but he also revels in power and death.
Re: Hilary’s last post
I would agree that LaCroix would fit the D&D Lawful Evil alignment quite well…
The Master is of course Chaotic Evil, while The Doctor’s Chaotic Good, & Nyssa’s Lawful Good…
Hmm, a interesting symmetry of sorts….
(As for the Palladium “alignment system”, LaCroix would be Abberant, The Master Diabolic, The Doctor’s Scrupulous, & Nyssa would be classed as Principled…).
Everyone assumes that the Master would win in combat with LaCroix. I can come up with many scenarios in which LaCroix would win. The Master, after all, has a wonderful brain, but relies heavily on fancy toys. His main asset aside from his gadgets is his ability to assert mental control over others. LaCroix also has this ability, and is, IMO, the much stronger of the two when it comes to hypnosis.
Telepwen: That is assuming that the Ainley Master still has his innate Time Lord hypnotism powers after he took over the body of Tremas. After all, this is the Master who had to use alien tech or  a swinging watch in Trial of a Time Lord to mezmerize his victims, not using his classic “I am the Master and you WILL obey me” speech.
LaCroix may be the only current Psi out of the two, but it is established in FK that some people are resistant to Vamp-nosis (Resistors; a mortal with the fortitude to resist being hypnotized by a vampire. Such humans are only a small minority)
The park panels (6-8) are rendered delightfully familiar to a favorite FK shooting space (plus continued magnificent work with the light sources), as are the up and down angles there to FK camera work and editing… which observation suddenly made me realize one reason why the flashbacks sometimes look more Doctor Who to me where the present day (1995) looks more Forever Knight! FK’s flashbacks and other vampire scenes were frequently shot diagonally. Hmmmmmm. The merged flavors of crossover…
Lacroix, of course, has limited tolerance for any “master” besides himself, so while I — like many others — doubt that’s the Master down there and suspect it’s DuVallee, I’m also enjoying the pool of possibilities for the two villains to parallel each other and contest that turf.
Hilary: Your summation of Lacroix as “an amoral sociopath… Lawful Evil?” is perfect, and made me laugh with amused delight.
Captain Shade: Lacroix is, metaphorically, Nick’s cross to bear. Thus his name.
Thanks! You probably won’t remember me, but I was Katya (not Katja) on FORKNI-L about a million years ago, internet time. I ‘hung out’ with the Ravens, then JMR and the SKL gang for a while, and then dropped out of Fandom ™ entirely somewhere around ‘98. You should swing by our forums and chat – there are a lot of new FK watchers hanging out in the ‘Rich’s Roundtable’ folder, and I could use another old-timey fan or two in there.
Master vs. LaCroix? Not even close. Yes, the Master is super intelligent and has his gadgets, but he is also a *Timelord* with profound mental awareness of his surroundings and history like the Doctor. Of course, the Master is also quite devious, calculating, crazy, and has the very, very nasty ability to kill and take over bodies…even when he has no physical form himself. In other words, he is one bad dude. Even when he is overmatched physically sometimes, he always seems to find a way to manipulate the situation to his advantage…or even enlist the Doctor to rescue him (Logopolis)!
I understand that LaCroix is an old and powerful vampire with flying abilities and hypnosis. Nice, but the Master is so, so much more.
If would be interesting to see them have a hypnosis duel. Hmmm? Nevertheless, the Master has so many more options to defeat LaCroix.
See, now I always saw the Doctor as Chaotic Good personally.. hang on, just found a nice list and definition of it..
Chaotic Good
Chaotic good characters are strong individualists marked by a streak of kindness and benevolence. They believe in all the virtues of goodness and right, but they have little use for laws and regulations. They have no use for people who “try to push folk around and tell them what to do.” Their actions are guided by their own moral compass which, although good, may not always be in perfect agreement with the rest of society. A brave frontiersman forever moving on as settlers follow in his wake is an example of a chaotic good character.
1. Keeps his word to any other good person (unless it conflicts with his/her plans against neutral or evil characters in which case this would be explained to the good characters unless it may put them in harms way).
2. Lies only to neutral or evil people (see #1).
3. Never attacks or kills an unarmed foe, unless of course they are truly evil and need to be done away with.
4. Never harms an innocent… unless it is unavoidable
5. Never tortures for pleasure. Threats may be permissible… (Under extreme duress torture for information may be permissible).
6. Never kills for pleasure (yet destroying evil seems to pleasure them).
7. Always tries to help others.
8. Distrusts authority.
9. Works well in groups, but dislikes confining rules and ‘red tape’.
10. Never takes dirty money or items except in extreme circumstances where the acceptance of money or items is a ruse and contributes to the greater good.
11. Never betrays a friend, unless that friend betrays them with bad intent.
Add into that the 10th Doctor’s “one warning” rule, and I think it meshes quite nicely of what we’ve seen recently of the Doctor..
Oooo..! The tension mounts!
Well, the Master’s in an unsually good mood. Didn’t kill his henchman or anything. I guess anyone can have an off day.
Ohhhh… Good transition from past to the “present”. Keep up the good work!
I don’t know if he’d be in more or less trouble if that is actually the Master.
LaCroix vs. The Master….rockin!!!!!!
i’ve tried but i really can not get into this
funny part is vamps and doctor who are two of my favorite things
i keep thinking this is the day I am going to start to look forward to it but it is not happening
be well
I really liked the transition in this strip. I especially like the first ‘present’ panel.
Oooo… fun! LaCroix has tracked the Master down, this should be interesting!
You think someone would notice those glowing eyes.
Arrrgh…I agree fully with Master in this one. DuVallee has supreme power and he can’t think with anything other than what’s between his legs? Damn (censored) typical.

LC: Oh Come on! The guy is sensible, love at first sight is a beautiful (if somewhat foolish) thing!
So the Master’s a vamp? That actually makes sense. He may have become a vampire in order to keep his body strong.
I think the “TCE Vampire” is Seigneur DuVallee, himself
Awesome page rich!
im still unsure if that’s the master or not!
hmm I shall wait and see! (:
anticipation rising!
hurray!
um by the way what is the injection the master gave him? will we find out?
yeahy!
You may be right, Captain Shade. I was thinking the same thing.
I’m sorry that you can’t get into it, ny2who. I’m enjoying the heck out of it. Great job, Rich!
I think I agree with Eric and the Captain. Having the Master turn up under that hat and cloak would be kind of obvious.
(Eric and the Captain … that sounds like a little-known 70s folk/rock duo, doesn’t it?)
Wait a second…. hat…. coat….?
Thats not 5 is it????
Captain Shade, you echo my thoughts exactly.
I mean, Janette isn’t the type to (pardon the pun) go quietly into the night.
(Unless she’s plotting stuff. Then she goes gleefully.)
aw, just when it was getting good, we go back to the 90s. I’m sorry, but I really love the 1348 subplot, for a pair of certain time travelers. You can guess. Will we see the Fifth Doctor in action soon?
Ah two forces of evil, if only they could destroy each other…
Noticed in panel six that LaCroix stopped off to put on his Sunday-go-to-meetin’ domino mask….chortlechortle.
My guess is that Master turned the guy into a vampire to try and find some way to gain immortality and now the guy is drinking blood through the centuries and the Master has come to finish his experiments
hey can any FK fans out there tell me, is LaCroix good or evil? Or just got his own agenda and rather “morally grey”
Ghost2502: LaCroix is an amoral sociopath. He has a very strong ethical code of his own (once his word is given, it’s given), but he also revels in power and death.
So in D&D terms… Lawful Evil?

I’d call the Doctor “Neutral Good”, since he also has a code and obeys the laws when it suits the greater good.
Maybe it’s just my eyesight, but Pierre/Charles seems younger here than when we first saw him- something to do with the Master’s injections perhaps?
I am fairly sure that whoever is under that hat, it isn’t who LaCroix is expecting….
Oh… LaCroix…. I NEVER Thought I’d feel sorry for YOUR @r$#, but right now- if you take on the Master, — I DO feel sorry for you!
I just think it’s funny that a vampire would be named LaCroix (French for The Cross)
Everyone assumes that the Master would win in combat with LaCroix. I can come up with many scenarios in which LaCroix would win. Thoughts?

It also sounds like Gibbs from NCIS. Just a bit. Lol.
What? the Master, at least the original one, was ALWAYS in over his own head. summoning demons he couldn’t control, and such.
