The Doctor slips out to do an analysis at the lab. Nick and Schanke show up to see what Nat’s got. They deduce that there are probably other miniaturized victims and Schanke heads out to start searching for them. Nick stays behind to see if Nat knows of any possible supernatural causes for the death.

haha i love this new comic more than the 10 docs if that is at all possiable
I’m glad you used Eight for this, he’s such an under-rated Doctor. Though is Grace travelling with him now?
Cathulu is pleased. Vampires make great pets. Bow before Cathulu!
Different Grace. Temporal coincidence, that’s all!
Excellent work, Rich. I won’t pretend to know anything about the characters from ‘Forever’, but that doesn’t stop me enjoying it.
Grace?? Well, she is a doctor, she could be working there I suppose…
If it is the same Grace, it would be before the Doctor Who movie and the Ten Doctors, because this is the mid-90’s, and the movie took place in 1999 while her appearance in the 10 doctors was in 2007.
okay to be totally honest i have never seen forever knight but I really badly want to now..
Is it good?
oh great page by the way! (:
Tom: Ah yes, of course. Lost track of the time line there
And if they met now, before the movie, she would have remembered him IN the movie, wouldn’t she?
I’m having the same effect with Natalie I had with your Mel – I like her a lot more in the comics than I ever did in the series (not that I especially disliked them, but…)
hello rich I know this is the second comment of mine sorry but heres a link i hope it works;
http://www.elfwood.com/~searingdestiny/Contemplation_(by_Jill_O_Connell).3521687.html
when reading i want you to try and visualize it..
its not one of my best i want to be a writer my best story is being written at the moment.
but when reading it can you see what the character sees?
and thank you for taking the time i appreciate it (:
Nope, not the same Grace. Natalie’s assistant was named Grace.
For the record, though, when I read that panel, I first said “What??” and then “Oh. Yeah.”
Ha, nice! He just misses Nick…
I wonder if they’ll meet before 8 goes to the Raven?
I have to wonder how many times the line, “Doctor? Doctor Who?” has been used in some form. Although, come to think of it, that is where the show got its title from. In “An Unearthly Child,” Ian was calling him “Doctor Foreman,” until either he or Barbara realized that that wasn’t his name. Leading him to muse, “Doctor … who, then?”
(bowing before Cathulu)
Good little hideous feline entity, good kitty … aaagh, no! NO!!! NOOOOOOOOO!
General *Tau*’s Chicken?
…I don’t think a Doctor Who/Warhammer 40,000 crossover would go well.
I think Americans call it General Tso’s, but in Canada (at least in Central Canada) it’s General Tau/Tao – breaded chicken bits covered in a vaguely spicy red/orange sauce.
Hilary: Chicken balls? They got to be quite small. American Generlas Tso’s they use diced chicken breast, I would be interested in sampeling the Canadian chicken balls though.
Correction: I say balls when you wrote “bits” my bad sorry.
General Tso is good, but I am a Kung Pao guy myself. Nice call out though Toronto is a great city for Asian food
Hilary: You cheeky minks. you corrects your post before mine got sent. Makes me look like a duffus.
ooooooh! Is that our Grace, Nat is speaking of? This is soooooooooo exciting!
Thanks Rich.
Leylue: No, Natalie had an assistant named Grace in the series. Completely different person.
Hilary: Chicken balls. *snerks*
Heheh. As in 10 Docs, the Eighth Doctor keeps missing ppl!
Oh, I’m much more a lo mein/won-ton person myself.
“Doctor who?” – heh. That one never gets old.
There’s something nice about the Chinese food conversation – a bit of normality in the middle of what, on a weird-o-meter scale of 1 to 10, would probably go all the way up to 11.
I wonder what 8 wants blood for…
You made a “Doctor who?” joke. GROAN
How does Nick know it’s no vampire? There might be miniaturized bite marks on Street Walking Barbie⢠(if Schanke can come up with new names for her, so can I).
*sigh*
I know he’s seen the TARDIS, but c’mon, quit jumping to conclusions, it’s bad exercise.
Mmmm…. The Doc just missed Nick. I was hoping to see his reaction to him (and later when Nick finds out this is the same guy he met in 1348) Oh well…. it adds mistery.
Oh! and I love the good ol’ “Doctor Who?” joke.
Aww c’mon, it’s a tradition.
Made me smile.
Semi-OT:
Cook’s Illustrated had a recipe for General Tso’s not long ago, with cornstarch in the breading for extra crunch. I don’t usually eat deep fried stuff, but that sounded pretty good….
Re: Evil Midnight Lurker’s post
Yes, but does the packaging (if it’s a takeaway), initate Slave Bit Attack Mode on command…?
Note: The Tau in Warhammer 40K are fond of using various semi-intelligent autonomous attack drones, in anime-eseque fashion, to defend their Battlesuits/Mecha….
Oh, beautiful timing!!!!
Hahaha! Why am I NOT surprised it was Schanke who ended up saying _that_ line? I have to say, now that I’ve seen a bit of the show, you are totally NAILING everybody’s characters and the like…the back and forth, the pacing of the patter and whatnot, that they do, _perfectly_. That Chinese food conversation that you liked, guys? Schanke rambles about whatever odd fast-food (usually foreign in some way, usually Greek) greasy stuff he’s eating out of a cardboard carton this time ALL the TIME, on this show. It’s just his way.
Also, _definite_ improvement on Nick. You’ve just about nailed him now.
And yeah, HA! I was totally gonna make some comment like, last week about how I thought it was funny that there was _also_ a medical doctor named “Grace” on Forever Knight…but forgot. But anyway, yeah guys–totally different character. She’s a…how to put this politely…an endomorphic black woman. So yeah. If you saw her and the Doctor Who Grace together, they look nothing alike.
…Notorious
Got a question – durring what season of “Forever Knight” does this take place? or is this right after the end of the last season?
Ok, did anyone ask if the Grace mentioned is 8’s Grace?
Re: Captain Chaotica’s post
From the description of Schanke’s eating habits, that you give Captain, I wonder how Nick would react to Scottish style deep fried kebabs, or pizza, if he ever saw Schanke eating it…
I suspect extremely badly…
Uh, carol…if you’ll look at the above comments, you’ll see that the Grace being referred to above is not Grace Holloway from the Doctor Who FOX film, but Natalie’s lab assistant in “Forever Knight”.
Confession time: I actually didn’t make that connection myself when I wrote it. It wasn’t until a couple of pages from now that I realized that people might think I was referring to Grace Holloway.
searingdestiny: Sorry, but the Elfwood site tells me your link is to something that no longer exists.
Denny Wilson: This story takes place after the end of 2nd season and before season 3. There’s an episode guide page for Doctor Who and Forever Knight on this site where I pinpoint where in both timelines this story (and “The 10 Doctors”) takes place.
My head almost exploded with glee when I realized this was a FK/Dr. Who crossover. This is shaping up beautifully!
I haven’t seen FK in years. I need to track it down sometime and watch it again. I miss that show. (although I’m still angry about the series finale).
That “Doctor Who?” joke never gets old. *laughs*.
Bill M: How about ‘polly pocket’?
We have seen 8 and 5, now we need 9 sipping an extra dry gin martini at The Raven, speaking with a vampire chica about leaving the past, all of the past behind… seeing Nick walk past him disdainly, commenting about how he is going on about that again… then 9 gets bounced by angry Brujah for trying to throttle an unexpecting 8 (who in his typical fashion, failed to recognize the other timelord (himself) in the bar) for blowing up Gallifrey…
or something like that… Cathulu made me do it…
*rolls eyes at the ‘Doctor Who’ joke.*
Strukos, whisper not the secrets of Cathulu! Bow before Cathulu!
Strukos: Brujah? This is “Forever Knight”, not “Cringing: The Embarrassed”.
The “Who?” joke just had to be. It can be used just once anyway…
I’m sorry, I really hate to be nitpicky (especially if I’m wrong, but I doubt that in this case), but isn’t it spelled “General Tso”? The pronunciation in the comic is right, but the spelling is off. Is that intentional or…I’m lost, sorry.?
Never mind, I just read Hilary’s comment. Like I said, hate to be nitpicky. (Especially if I’m wrong)
I can so imagine Schranke saying “Eh, Doctor Who?” now I’m almost finished with the first season of Forever Knight.
