Oh dear, looks like Paulus is in trouble! Loving both comics at the moment :)

Something tells me that this may not do anything…. or give him horrible nightmares about certain women living on his land…

  3. Mass

Ah the witches plan is finally in motion! Wonder what they’re doing to him?

  4. Makkabee

If this is the Verbena’s maneuver (likely, but we know how Rich likes to toss in twists) I think they’ve overreached themselves. They’ve enjoyed a live and let live attitude with Paulus up til now, something they wouldn’t get with many Roman landowners — now that they’ve shattered that peace I don’t think he’s the type to curl up and quietly take it, though he’ll probably come up with something more clever than just calling out the vigiles.

O_o where are they sticking that 3rd pin?!?

  6. WingedSerpent

Hmm, sort of expected something like this. Hmm, Makkabee’s probably right. Poor choice, ladies.

    Good, like always, Rich.

I doubt this’ll kill him, him being the protagonist and all, but it might make him sick…?

Or it’s a love spell…there’s a spike in his head, to change his mind, in his heart, to make him fall in love with whatever witch they want, and probably one is going below the belt to make him lust after whoever it is.

I wonder where she’s going to poke the third needle…

  9. Lord President Lundar

mmm12: I’m pretty sure we all know. :-) Yet again I must say “poor Paulus”.

Is that why his choices suck so much?

  11. carol

I knew it! Black magic! He’s not going to like this.

  12. WhoRU?

SWEET DREAMS?! More like hellish nightmare!

  13. Romanadvoratrelundar

    Ha ha! The plot thickens!

Hi there, good page, nice deatils and shading. Silly question but is there any chance of an ‘Eleven Doctors’ when the BBC finally decide to show Series 5? This question has probably been asked so I’ll refrain from doing the obvious thing (asking again.) and have a bun instead.

a needle through the heart, head and.. i don’t know where thats heading
Could that have anything to do with controlling his heart, mind(and again i dont know) to make him fall in love and marry one of the witches??
Just a random theory, but interested in what troubles are ahead for poor paulus :-)

    Um… a voodoo doll?
    – NVM, I looked it up; they used those dolls with curse tablets! Might just be a love spell… but if they’re casting a curse on Paulus, t could be much worse! What did he do to deserve that?

So does magic actually *work* in the Fulminata setting?

  18. JustAWanderer

Paulus, Paulus, Paulus! What are you doing? NEVER say, “Nothing else can go wrong!” That’s ASKING for trouble!

  19. Rich

    ShineyTeapot: Thanks!

Goliath: I don’t have plans to do “The 11 Doctors”, no. Maybe in a hundred years or something. But for now I’m happy to stick with shorter stories with fewer Doctors.

    EvilMidnightStalker: Yes, yes it does!

Now this is why ( should I ever get my Fulminata campaign up and running) I’ve relegated the magick rules to flavor text. Gunpowder is Real Science (and natural advances in metalurgy must have taken place so as to contain the bursting strength of exploding fulminata). Answered prayers may be chalked up to coincidence. But sympathetic magic must be known to the victim for the psychological effect to work.
I guess I’m more into the Alternate History aspect of “Fulminata” than to the fantasy aspect. That a thing is believed to exist doens’t have the same effect as a thing truly existing.
