I’m a Dr Who fan, but not more than, ‘I watch the show when I can’.
Does anyone recognise any of the players here?
I am definitely a ‘Rich’ fan though!
They are all the cast from Forever Knight
Forever Knight was a vampire/crime crossover from a few years back. Nick Knight was the main character, a vampire. Janette was another vampire in the series too. Wiki it for more info.
Looks like the Master’s handiwork, mind.
Doogie Howser, detective…
No, seriously, he’s drawn very well. Nice work.
Heheh, don’t lie to me Sean. I know. I’m still trying to capture a decent likeness of Nick. I’m fond of the Schanke, though.
Like “The 10 Doctors”, I expect the likenesses will improve as the comic
dragscontinues on.OOO This looks like it’s going to be interesting…I just can’t wait to see which Doctor it is (Hopes for McGann, McCoy or Either Baker)
A shriveled up doll sized corpse – isn’t there only one person in the Whoniverse who owns a weapon that can do that?
Mendez (& others): character profiles follow (may contain TV series spoilers!)
Detective Nicholas ‘Nick’ Knight: http://foreverknight.wikia.com/wiki/Nick_Knight
Dr Natalie Lambert, forensic pathologist: http://foreverknight.wikia.com/wiki/Natalie_Lambert
Detective Don Schanke : http://foreverknight.wikia.com/wiki/Schanke
Ohhhh looks like the Master!
I’ll have to look up “Forever Knight” on youtube. Probably will enjoy the comic more.
Let’s see, we’ve got a vampire draining the blood of that poor girl, and then the Master using his TCE on her from the looks of things, but I doubt things are as they seem. Excellent job Rich!
Awww! It’s Schanke! To me, I think Panel 5 looks perfect — not sure what it is, but they all look just fine to me.
*is really glad this is set before Season 3 of FK*
Schanke!!!! – Wonder when he’ll eat his first Souvlaki.
And the Master and Lacroix would make up for an excellent villain-y tagteam
I loved forever knight, it was kinda like Highlander but with vampires, and was filmed in toronto! great idea for a crossover, I woulda never imagined this
Yah! A good and wierd/freaky/creepy start to things. This is gonna be great!
And Rich, as for caricaturing Nick the 5th panel looks good to my eyes. You’ve definitely got Natalie, and you have thoroughly and completely nailed Schanke’s voice. He must be fun to write for
I was sort of a fan of Forever Knight in that I watched all the episodes when it was on tv, but it hasn’t stood the test of re-watching for me, possibly because of the way it ended. But writing a story in the middle is probably a good idea. I don’t think the cartoonish style that I attribute to Rich will work the best for vampires, at least not when they have their fangs out, but I look forward to seeing how the art evolves in this area. Cartoonish should work well for Nick, though, when he’s pretending to be human and purposely non-emo. An interesting start.
Squeek
Tardis!
Now this is going to be interesting… I’m still a novice to the Whoniverse, and now a crossover with a show until about a week ago I’d never heard of. I’m set for a LOT of fun!!
The Doctor and Nick together! Now that would (will?) be a dream team.
For any of you that wanna watch some Forever Knight and brush up….http://www.hulu.com/forever-knight
Rich I loved The 10 Doctors can’t wait for this to unfold!
TCE! Squee! I like the TCE slightly better than the “laser screwdriver” simply becase the LS looks like the Master aping the Doctor while the TCE was always unique.
Either way…. OOOOOoooo!
YAY!!!! Another Doctor who comic!!! And crossed over with Forever Knight, very cool. Can’t wait to read more of this comic.^_^
I have a feeling this might also have a part in the past…
Fifth and eigth doctors!! I love sneaking around for spoilers. HA! I found them.
I love that there is a Canadian who can represent us in the Whoniverse. I never thought I’d see a Knight comic
I’ll have to let my mom know next time I see her, she’s still friends with Geraint Davies
Oh, by the way Rich, are you going to be at the Toronto Doctor Who party next Saturday? (June 13th) Rob Shearman and Colin Teague will be there! IF you are gonna be there, let me know and I can say hi! I’m going dressed as Ten
The Master is vampiric? Neat!
Asecooper: Unfortunately not. We were only invited last week, and it’s not possible to for us to arrange vacation time and travel from Nova Scotia on such short notice. Maybe next time, if we hear about it with a couple of month’s warning!
I have to say you’ve already got Natalie and Schanke down pretty well. Nick is almost there – I can see hints of him in panel 5. It seems like it’s always the ‘pretty boys’ that give your pencil problems.
Uh… I didn’t mean that to come out sounding like that – you know what I mean.
So far, it looks like the Master is trying one of his I-want-to-live-forever-but-I-don’t-have-any-more-regeneration schemes!
If this is the case, I think it’s going to be the 4th Doctor, since that’s when the Master was having most of his problems with getting more regenerations.
How do we know it’s the Master exactly? So we’ve seen one shrivelled up body. I’m pretty sure that’s the same hooker from the first page who got her neck bitten into.
Hmm… Interesting. Oh, and if anyone wants to and has time to watch some of Forever Knight, CBS has uploaded it on (from what I’ve found) Hulu and tv.com. I’ve been catching up with the first season over the past couple of days.
So the mysterious guy in the coat and hat bit a prostitute… and now she’s tiny.
Does this mean the master is a vampire?
So cool! I used to love Forever Knight!
Maybe it’s Nine… that DOES look like the Cardis in panel one!
Oooo, the Master… so wait, he was the trenchcoated… the Master as a Vampire. Oh, dear. Asif he didn’t have ENOUGH froidien symbolisem after the new-Who S3 finalle…
@nightfly: That’s Nick’s car.
I’m really interested to see if Rich can pull off Lecroix well … oh gawd I just remembered he was a Pomepiian senator. Please tell me he’s not going to show up in Paulus…
This is going to be an interesting hash-up. But if it’s anywhere near as good as the 10 Doctors, I’m sure we’ll have great fun reading it.
Nick’s car had the biggest trunk ever on a production US car. He crashed in it when he couldn’t get inside at dawn.
Finally, a Doctor Who set in Canada!!! Go Great White North!!
SCHANKE!!! Yeah, it’s set during the Schanke years! I still miss Schanke. *SNIFF*
Cool! I used to watch Forever Knight! Hmmm…doll like victims? Didn’t the Master do that? Wonder which Doctor is in this!
The clothes shrank too… reminds me of the Master’s tissue compression gadget. I see the murderer left the money too. Sloppy, that. Fingerprints and all that… I’m a bit surprised that whoever found the body didn’t pocket the money. Maybe a beat cop saw it first and realized the cash was material evidence.
So, the assumption is were dealing with the 8th Doctor… So at the end of the TV Movie, was there a way for the Master to have been stuck on Earth looking for a way to regain his ability to regenerate and change from his morphant/deathworm form back into a full Timelord?
Vampire with a TCE?
I suppose that’d be one way for the Master to live forever, barring destruction of his form (without warning). And it would be like the master to body jump into a vampire..
Brilliant!
From burnt body stealer to the Cheetah virus to a blob body stealer to a vampire? I almost feel sory for The Master…. Almost.
Well, ‘Survival’ did see the Master sort of vampire up a little!
Hmm- aged and shrunk? Or was the aging merely how the shrinking looked, everything sucked inward to the shrinking bone ….
I hadnt expected the Master – this could be good!
And already the intrigue starts!
Menedez – I count the TARDIS as a character, but I don’t recognise anyone else. I have faith that non-Forever Knight initiates will be given what info we need as the story unfolds.
A TCE? Interesting!
Hello, Tissue Compression Eliminator……
Why isn’t the TARDIS in panel 7? Did it just arrive in 8, is it a way of showing the FK characters refusing to notice it, is it just an oversight, or am I peering in too deep?
The caddy, the caddy! I can imagine this big grin on KnightWitch’s face (she owns the car now).
And well done, Rich! Nat and Schanke, nailed from the get-go. Nick took a couple of tries, but definitely there by panel 5.
Drax looks like he’s put on a bit of weight
(j/k!)
I really liked forever knight right up to the end(which sucked if you’ll pardon the pun)So I think this is a great Idea.Any way of having a guest shot of the New Avengers(they had two episodes filmed in Canada and were out at the same time)?Or will that confuse even more people?
Combining Vampires prone to historical flashbacks, and Timelords with multi-incarnations, is that this can be a multi-doctor story, without the doctors actually meeting each other.
How about Constable Benton Fraser and Deifenbaker, my second-favourite Canadians (Rich & Hilary are #1)
Whoah whoah hang on a sec… doll-sized victim’s bodies? Helloooo even I know who this could be! MASTER!
Like it, like it, LIKE IT! I think at one time I thought of the same thing (might use it again in an alternate story from my main timeline, thanks to you), but in a parallel universe, I have another one whom was bitten, SHE bites… HIM, he regenerates, becomes… evil, later on she is staked, regenerates, and then becomes more like Bathory instead.
Still, I wish I had all your talent! I feel the fangs growing again….
@Hector: The TARDIS in in panel 7. There’s a dark bit at the corner of the building, under the middle of the big word bubble. To me, that reads as the bottom of the TARDIS.
I liked GWD when he was Hercules’ sidekick better. I wasn’t crazy about FK, but watched it just because of GWD. This is getting rather interesting, though….gonna haveta bone up on the FK world, I guess, when I have time…
a.
Though it’s too bad the Doctor’s first trip to Canada had to land him in Toronto. I hope he doesn’t hold it against the rest of us…
Rich, May I re-publish your Doctor Who comics on my website?
I run a Sci-Fi website (www.Jonja.net) and i would really like to spread your excellent work around.
Rich, are you going to make it so you have to know about this program to understand the plot? Because I’ve never heard of it.
Guys, you’ve got to remember nothing’s impossible for The Master, than it is for The Doctor. If you recall, during the Seventh Doctor’s Timeline The Master became a feline being in order to prolong his lives. And the Eighth, using a bloodworm in order to steal a Tellurian body, then attempting to steal The Doctor’s remaining lives.
So for him, a vampire’s nothing for him. More likely, probably TCE’d her so she’d be easier to dispose, or perhaps a way of luring out The Doctor. Who knows (no pun intended).
John: No, we don’t permit republishing, but links are always welcome!
YWOM: I don’t think so. All you really need to know is that there are vampires, there are police, and some of them overlap.
The story itself should be pretty clear even without the background knowledge – just think of it as Yet Another Crisis that the Doctor gets involved in.
You’ll miss some of the in-jokes, but the Forever Knight fans will miss some of the Who in-jokes, so it all evens out in the wash.
I take it the Master is present.
Vampires and Aliens, this is the end result. Nasty.
Which Doctor is this, I wonder, The title is 8’s or Am I mistaken?
BTW, I don’t know anything about Forever Knight, but I didn’t either on Doctor Who when I started reading “The 10 Doctors” (And now I’m a fan) so I think I can work with this and the FK Wiki.
… O_O Oh my, looks like two of the nastiest have teamed up, …
(SQUEEEE!!!!)
I just though something: Rich if you make me a Forever Knight fan……… well, actually I might apreciate it, if it’s good. In any case you’d prove to be a truly magnificent bastard (if “The 10 Doctors” hasn’t proven that already)
Oh, I’m telling you, Rich, if you make ME a Forever Knight fan, I will get you for it…. I’ve hardly got any space in my room for anymore DVDs, kay?
Love the dark drawing-style you have put on this.
Interesting….
Especially considering that this looks most definitely like the work of the Master, and if I’m right and this is an Eighth Doctor story, then the Master just recently had an experience on a strange alien planet where he almost became a Cat Person, and currently has a pretty nice set of fangs…..
I’ll stick around for a bit, but honestly the idea of doing crossovers is a bit too fan fiction stereotypical for my tastes, and I don’t have any affection for Forever Knight at all….
Nice…though, Rich, you commented on your version of Nick–you might want to try a slightly more ‘chiseled’ look to the head shape, and maybe give him a slight case of ‘Perpetual Angry/Annoyed-Face’. Schanke, OTOH, is spot-on.
“the Forever Knight fans will miss some of the Who in-jokes
Ha! I was a fan of both so I wont miss ANY of the jokes! lol
Mark Baker-Wright:
….This *is* fan-fiction. I hope you stick around and enjoy it. But if not, c’est la vie. This is one of those things I’ve always wanted to do. So I’m doing it.
You Will Obey Me:
I’m trying to write it so that people who’ve never heard of FK can still follow it. There will be in-jokes, but all productions have them, whether you catch them or not.
Which Doctor is this?… better question! WHICH MASTER IS THIS? Will Romana be with them? or K9? Or Sarah Jane and Luke? or any other companions
Must look up this Forever Knight stuff – keep going Rich
lol didnt realise this this was a crossver untill no.. what IS forever knights may i ask?
That detective nick knight guy looks like matt smith ( 11) I ‘m still wondering about which doctor it is.( hope it’s ten plz) It’s starting out out great Rich keep going. Hope to see the next page tommorrow. Cute how you showed the Tardis there. I have a feeling the doctor is four.
Of course, mind that it’s called “Forever Jenette,” so I guess we’ll be seeing more of Jenette in the end and less of Nick and co.
Love it! I used to watch that show all the time. Even though it got a git campy by the end, it was still a very fun show to watch. Thank you!
What IS Forever Knights? Sounds intriguing.
I love both shows and am looking forward to more. The shrunken corpse is a Master trademark, obviously. The Knight team is Detective Nick Knight, forensic pathologist Natalie Lambert and Detective Don Schanke, so this would be season one or two, while Janette was still a major presence in Nick’s life. (And avoids the Human Factor debate) The only way to know for sure is by who’s the precinct chief. Stonetree or Cohen? As for which Doctor, we still don’t know. I love them all (especially after seeing them all together in the last series) so I’m easy that way. If we’re going by which doctor was concurrent with “Forever Knight”, that would be the 7th, wouldn’t it?
it’s likely to be the 8th doctor – surely – that’s the 8th doctor titles (from the movie)?????????
If this is set back far enough, like when the Master was doing all kinds of crazy stuff to himself trying to extend his life so that he must have been a real genetic mess by the time of the TV Movie (hence his actually surviving execution as ooze that can possess things/people), then it isn’t hard at all to imagine this was all the Master’s work. If he got it in his head being a vampire would enable him to exist longer, I think he’d willingly have it done to him.
Yep, that sure sounds like Schanke! :XD
TARDIS!!!!!
@Hilary and @Rich,
Consider this your several-months-ahead invitation to fly down to the States and see us at DragonCon, in Atlanta. http://www.dragoncon.org
This is Bloody (Excuse the Vampire Pun) Brilliant
I loved the Forvever Knight Series, and I love Doctor Who!
Always loved Geraint Wyn Davies as Nick, And Nigel Bennet as Lucien LaCroix, Deborah DuchĂȘne as Janette and Catherine Disher as Natalie Lambert.
oh please tell me……that Lucien Lacroix will be in the Comic..and you are gonna capture Nigel Bennet’s likeness to a Tee!
BTW..I always thought Nigel Bennet wouldve made an Excellent Master! Was pulling for him when it was anounced that The Master was returnign for Series 3!
Never seen Forever Knight, but this comic looks like it could be good. Vampires and (presumably) the Master! Can’t wait to find out which Doctor it is. *hopes like mad for Five*
Been following your work for quite a while, loved the previous Dr Who story line but with the introduction of Forever Knight I finally had to comment. All of your work (especially the Court Jester references over in yafgc) is wonderful and I look forward to what you will do with Nick & Company.
I wonder what Time Lord blood might do to an ordinary vampire…
@Evil Midnight Lurker
And how bout the reverse, what will Vampire blood do to a Time Lord?
Since everyone thinks it’s the Master you never know what evil dastardly thing he is planning. I hope it is the Roger Delgado “Master”, if it is indeed him.
Now I have to switch my avatar to my favorite incarnation of the Master
.
A day late commenting but nevertheless……
OH, don’t ya just LOVE it when all yer questions are answered straight away??
I’m glad to see we’re sticking to 1st or 2nd seasons casting for FK. I wasn’t all that crazy about Vetter or that SO stereotypical Vachon.
Can’t wait for Lacroix!!
Haha, my first thought was “ohh he looks a lot like Knight”, then I read the text and it confirms it. Nice
lol there should be a crossover with Doctor Who and Primeval it would make sense cos of the time travel…
YAY Forever Knight!!!!
I Love it already!!!!!!
Sorry I’m late commenting on this, but I’ve been busy looking for a new job. Becoming unemployed in a slow economy sucks.
First, Thanks Rich, for the comment that you’ll be writing for folks like me. I’m not much into the dark, brooding vampire stories when the vamp is a guy, so I pretty much avoided Forever Knight when I realized it had nothing to do with Knight Rider. (Hmm… K.I.T.T. and a T.A.R.D.I.S. … an idea, but my muse isn’t letting me develop it more right now)
Second, last time I saw miniatures made from people, that was Ainley’s Master using the Tissue Compression Device, which I think last appeared when 5 used it to dispose of Kamelion at Kamelion’s request. I don’t remember what happened to it after that. If the Doctor still hung on to it, I could see this as being a 6 story (mmm, Peri…) when he was still loopy from regeneration or just his general dark, somber tone, or an 8 story, since in The 10 Doctors story Rich just ran, the Master took over that one tech, and thus had access to the Doctor’s stash of stuff, plus the fact that 8’s official run consists of the movie, and unofficially the books and audio/web dramas.
Rich if you decide to take Raster’s invite to Dragon Con you will find a large group of who fans that march in the parade(I’ve gone as the 3erd and 2nd Doctors over the last two years). Most of them know and love the ten doctors strip(and it has led to a few special poses by the group!).go to yahoo groups and look up prydon academy.
Who am I:
Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be able t make Dragon Con either since it’s so soon after we’re spending big bucks to get to World Con. Much as we’d love to. But kudos to the Whovians in your march!
Oooh…which Doctor is it? Is it 5? 4? Oooh! Is it 8? Oh please let it be 8 with Charlotte “Charley” Pollard, or Lucie Miller! Ultimately, I don’t care which Doctor, as long as the story’s good, but I can inwardly hope…
Can you say Master, anyone?
