You manage to make Maxil rather likeable, Rich. Maybe he was just having an off day in Arc of Infinity?
I wonder if the other Doctors will meet Maxil.. I kind of hope you have an explanation for Six & Maxil looking the same.

Since 2 1/2 is only a projection be definition he wouldn’t be part of the meld and might actually cease to exist during the confrontation as the doctor might not be able to spare the energy to maintain the projection.
Very nice job, Rich! I love the small details in the backgrounds, and for some reason I get the feeling that “for ANY reason” involves Dalek Ahn either interrupting from in there, reappearing out here, or something. This is far from over, I’m guessing.
And the move must be going well if you have time to post another page, so congratulations on that. And if it isn’t going well and you only have the chance because it’s going horribly, I hope it goes better.

Sorry, I couldn’t help it. I love this comic, so far it has been great, better than most episodes. You do such a great job. “ANY reason” involves foreshadowing, no?
I only have one question: if 2.5 is a projection from the 2nd Doctor, how would 2 be able to sustain the projection if he is busy trying to rid “himself” of the Dalek?? Eh…my brain hurts (thought not as much as the Doctors’…)

Rich, you have restored my faith! The comic was beginning to look a little fanboyish to me, but this one brought it back. You do wonderful work, Rich, now concentrate on moving. It’s quite a hassle, but you probably already know that. Anyway, great work!
Once the projection has been made it takes on a life of its own until its time catches up to it. Theoretically, the 2.5th Doctor could hang around and have its own adventures until the 2nd Doctor regenerates and absorbs it. *Shrug* Just going by what I saw in “Logopolis” and “The Planet of the Spiders”. Of course, it will have to obtain its own TARDIS and it will exist simultaneous to the 2nd Doctor from this point until regeneration. So theoretically I *could* do some 2.5th Doctor adventures as further sequels to “The 10 Doctors”.
Of course, it depends on how the gang at Devious feel about that…
Ho boy. Any time anyone says anything like 2.5 just said in that last panel, you can expect that something WILL go wrong. Law of the universe. And the Whoniverse, as well (more so, actually).
I wonder what would happen if the Doctors were disturbed, though….? What an interesting thought…

Yay! Wasn’t expecting an update, so I’m thrilled there was one! Looks like things are starting to wrap up a bit…they’ve defeated the Daleks, the High Council regenerated without a hitch, and Maxil’s stepping up, lol.
I like that 2.5 still considers himself part of the Doctor (though, why wouldn’t he? I dunno…). Lol for talking about the others as if he’s talking about himself.
Now all I have to worry about is where Dalek Ahn got to, and 2.5’s ‘For any reason.’ *shivers in anticipation*
Maxil immediatly comes up with six reasons he needs to question the Doctor, and he’s not letting any projection tell him what to do

makes sense that he was sent out since he doesn’t really exist and is just a projection of the doctor’s mind though I wouldn’t be suprised if he faded away during the doctor’s mental battle with the dalek.

I’m glad that 2.5 can stick around for a bit longer, and won’t simply dissolve before our eyes. It’s interesting, though, that Susan doesn’t acknowledge that he is still her grandfather. I’m sure that she realizes this, but wants to know her “own” Doctor is okay.
And who knew that the Time Lords would have a baseball team from St. Louis act as their provisional government!

I think it would be wonderful advertisement for the folks at Devious to allow you to use their Doctor for a little while longer. I rather like the way you have used him so far.
BTW, am I sensing a plot set up there with the mention that the other Doctors mustn’t be disturbed for ANY reason? Sounds like there may be a nice opening for a plot complication there.

Whoa, with as much work that went into the Quantum Doc page, I figured it’d be a while before updating, but to paraphrase a bard, the webcomic must go on.
I will join in with the chorus of followers who see “for ANY reason” as ominous, but I see it like Han Solo’s “… well it couldn’t get any worse.” Of course, that would probably be a bad idea for a crossover… almost as bad as the Dr. Who/Star Trek crossovers I’ve seen on YouTube, although http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JhAPkkLgtI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4QPihJTYNs made me laugh
Rich, even if the second Doctor regenerates, Doctor 2.5 can still exist because it has a life of itself. The second Doctor life without Doctor 2.5 can still regenerate without needing to absorb Doctor 2.5. It’s a self generated anomaly with a life of its own, independent of the second Doctor. Already you have proven that he exist separate and independent without the need of the second Doctor consciousness during the Mind Fusion.
A battle of wills that cannot be interrupted FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER naturally will not go all that swimmingly.
Meanwhile, it’s great to see a new page in which we get updates on how various companions are doing. Glitz hitting Drax up for a partnership, Nyssa and Grace exchanging courtesies, and Maxil being all noble and such are such wonderful little moments – and yet another reason I’ve enjoyed this comic.

“Must not be disturbed for any reason” Isn’t that science fiction drama code for ‘yes of course, when the next crisis hits the first thing we’re going to do after agonising about it for ooo at least 5 seconds IS to disturb him’.

Let’s see…what forces are out there that might disturb the UberDoctor “for any reason”? I don’t think any of the companions (even Rose) would do so after being warned by #2.5. The Rani? Maybe, if she thought she could advance some scheme by doing so. But she was cooperating with #4 — doesn’t seem likely she’d want to see Dalek Tor gain the upper hand. The same goes for the War Chief. The Meddling Monk? Well, meddling is his idiom, but he seems too minor. The Master? While he’s doubtless alive, I get the feeling his role in this is over. The Black Guardian? Certainly could, and would, but I get the feeling Rich isn’t going to introduce any new characters at this late stage. My bet would have to be on Dalek Ahn, who’s still a loose end at the moment and could “timey wimey” himself in at any moment.
As an aside, it would be nice, though unlikely given their general snootiness, if the new Council were to acknowledge the debt they owe to this bunch of Earthlings (and assorted other humanoids and metal doggies!) who bravely helped the Doctor(s) save their collective bacon this time!!
Oh, glad to hear my new fourth-favourite Doctor (after 2, 9 and 4 of course) could go on existing for awhile!
I’m sure he could get a hold of a TARDIS (3 isn’t really using his, just nick it, fix it, re-break it and return it and 3 can wonder why the TARDIS clock is 100 or so years ahead what it should be). And that would explain where a few more of the Doctor’s unaccounted for years went.
And of course he’ll need a companion…
He he, I just love this guy (all of him, really) too much. A spin-off would be great if you get the okay. So would a 2 and 7 one… So much awesomeness to work from…

It occurs to me, concerning 2.5, that if we’re following Season 6B, then the story where 2 finally regenerates is concerned, the two could team up and then merge Watcher style in the end…
Also, when this story started out, 2 and 2.5 were bickering like 2 and 3, but now, they seem to be getting along alot better since the ordeal with Omega.
Well, as much as you’ve shown that Maxil is reformed, I can’t help but think there is a sinister tone to his words when he says that Leela and her family will be “taken care of”. This could be just the opportunity to kick her off the planet. She wasn’t welcome before, an outsider (as stated on page 68), so now that it is evident that it was her offsping who were partly to blame for all their troubles, I can imagine it being the Time Lord equivalent of being chased with torches and pitchforks. Which would be better in the long term for Leela, as she wouldn’t be on Gallifrey for the Time Wars
LOL @Countess… That explains why Albert Pujols is so good – he’s actually a Time Lord with a century of baseball experience! Just for fun he’ll regenerate as a pitcher in 2036.
Based on what’s posted at the Devious site today (thanks for that link, Rich), I’m guessing the folks there are _loving_ having 2.5 here (they even posted part of today’s page!), and would be amenable to more Rich-drawn 2.5 adventures. All the better for us!

Usually after a regeneration, a time lord ends up temporary confused until they adapted to their new persona. No doubt they’re like a stranger to themselves when it comes to a new appearance and personality which confuses the mind.
So, yeah, the council is surely out of it when it comes to the emergency at hand, in fact, you can imagine it in a comical way if they got them to do their jobs in the state they’re in.
