The 10 Doctors – Page 180

The 9th Doctor decides that this cannot continue and attacks Dalek Tor. When the other Dalek threatens Rose, the 9th Doctor remains steadfast in his decision. This shakes the confidence of all the other companions and the 1st Doctor goes into a rage.

  1. Glenn Jupp

Oooo, angry 1 vs. angry 9. Great face off, Rich.

  2. Korafrax

10 looks very bugeyed in that last panel, probably because 9 is strangling him.

  3. Pattysol

    9 must be really desperate.

These pages have been absolutely awesome!!

  4. lu

wow. just … wow. (standing ovation!)

  5. ukgnome

Awesome – but we all know that 9 is all mouth and trousers – he wouldn’t would he?

  6. Stacey

    Ooo-err *hides behind sofa*

  7. Lord President Lundar

    Nuts, this ain’t good.

  8. Leona

    1 is seriously pissed…bravo!

  9. opopt2

Rich, The BBC needs this kind of excitement. My heart nearly bursts out of my chest when I read these pages. The new series if fun, but you bring the true story alive.

  10. Melopsittacus

I love the last panel. You can feel the tension between 1 and 9.
Poor 10 tho, being strangled by yourself is not a good way to go.
I was wondering about true death, is that something a Time Lord does voluntarily (not sure about the spelling) or can it be forced upon him/her?

  11. Andy

This is absolutely astounding. Good storytelling. It’s more gripping and confusing than Lost.

  12. gecks

oh the anguish, knowing your going to become part, of the ultimate evil in the universe, the frustration after defeating a whole race, only to come back again and again, and that this, monstrosity as it where, is what he has yet to become! oy!

  13. latture

Great companion montage in the 8th panel. Lately each page has been cliffhanger after cliffhanger (great storyline). I think it’s time for a joke page where 9 rips off 10’s head and 10 regenerates into 2 naked 11’s. :-)

  14. Cinthya

    @ Melopsittacus
I thought regeneration was the choice? My understanding was that when a time lord is dying they have the choice of regeneration, if they do not willfully regenerate, they die naturally. Since Dalek Tor (nice play on words btw rich!) has no will, he cannot regenerate.

  15. McGann's the Mann

ukgnome: ‘but we all know that 9 is all mouth and trousers – he wouldn’t would he?’
come on if you believe any doctor is capable of it its 9, clearly he wont but i genuinly belive he is prepared to he hasn’t reached his ‘coward any day’ level of inner peace yet
    Awesome page Rich

  16. McGann's the Mann

Oh sorry i forgot to say, i’m hoping the words ‘maximus defense mode’ are coming are way soon!

  17. Hoop

All the companions are dumbfounded… except Turlough, who appears to be rolling his eyes at the camera. :D

  18. violet

Hm… That feels too extreme even for Nine. Especially for Nine. Didn’t he say in “Dalek” that no matter what, he can’t do that to Rose again? As far as I understand this is supposed to be shortly after that episode for him?

Of course, the memory zap he got from Ten in the beginning provides him with the knowledge that no matter what, she’s going to survive this. It’s possible he even knows about Jack from that. And since they’d get a paradox if immortal Jack is suddenly removed from history by killing Rose and a paradox can only happen if you intentionally change what you know is supposed to happen in the next few moments (which Nine doesn’t know and thus can’t change)…

  19. Phoenix

Oh Wow – am now joining Stacey behind the sofa

  20. Rob H

This is drama at its finest. Once again I’m on tenterhooks!

  21. MoreBeans

WHAT?! No 9! You can’t kill 10 and allow the stupid Daleks to kill Rose! Stop stop stop! D: Tell him 1! Stop hiiim! XD I’m loving this.

Rich very time you put up a page I find myself screaming for more! Thanks a bunch of bananas. :)

  22. KatKlingon

I can’t find the words — You ARE a writer Rich, you just do it with pictures rather than prose. But you have it!

  23. Refusenik1

I especially like Turlough’s baleful glare in the second-to-last panel. I like it when you make characters cooler than they were in the actual series…

  24. Jonny Den

Brilliant!! Loving 1 having a go at 9 – fantastic!
I’m joining everyone else behind the sofa, me thinks! :P

  25. ericinwisconsin

All kinds of coolness here: 9’s move, 1’s reaction, Turlough’s eye-roll. The art, the story. Heck, even the panels & lettering are cool. :)

This is a classic story, Rich. Bravo!

  26. wulfae

    *gasp*

  27. MsCongeniality

An excellent comic, I loved the last panel. I have to say, though, I think my favorite part was Turlough’s expression in the reaction shot. :)

  28. Gabriel

Its nice to see #9 is pragmatic like #6. The greater good must be sought after!

  29. Doctorparadox

wow I did not see that coming.

  30. Dave

Wow rich everytime i look on your page you always continue to surprise me always looking forward to the next one keep up the good work.

  31. Mreen

    *gulp*

What’s even eerier is that 10 doesnt appear to be objecting to this – for all his planning he doesnt seem overly attached to his survival in this state …
(not only is the story amazing, but drawing is great this page :) )
*hands out chocolates behind the sofa to sustain the crowd there*

  32. Phoenix

Mreen – thanks for the chocs – it’s sure getting crowded back here!

  33. MoreBeans

Oooh! *hides behind the sofa in time for chocolates*
Yeah, I was wondering whether this means that 10 doesn’t have all his marbles yet and isn’t on their side?

  34. JohnH

    More! More!

    Suspense…killing …me. Must….have…more…pages…

    (gasp)…

  35. Snaresman

I have no idea what’s going to happen, and I love it! :)

9 looks great in panels 6 and 7. You really captured the emotions there.

  36. Jay

Is this the same 9th Doctor who in Season 1 of the NewWho couldn’t activate the Delta Wave and kill ALL the Daleks?

  37. PG

To me, Turlough looks bored, as if this was all pretty uninteresting and if they would just listen to his plan, this would’ve ended several dozen pages ago…

  38. PG

Which is to say, of course, that he looks perfect.

  39. Kimberly

Love it – just love it. Uhm, is there room behind the sofa for one more? Maybe we can build a fort with the cushions. Hey, look! Loose change and a stale Cheetoh!

The reactions of the companions are priceless – I think Ace and Tegan look especially well drawn! And Turlough – I don’t know. Is he suppressing a fart or something? ;)

Waiting patiently for the next panel… Love Ya Rich!

  40. Mitchell Craig

Move over and gimme a chocolate.
As for 10, MoreBeans (you must be real musical), it’s possible that he’s fighting the Dalek influence on a deeper level of consciousness than can be seen, so he’s busy.
When/if 10 rebels openly, watch out.

  41. Remorse1994

    Nine! You leather-clad bitch!

  42. Lewis

    Ah, erm, hmmm.

This would be the “hide behind the sofa” moment, yes?

    Brilliant!

  43. Isi

if you ignore the rest of the page, panel 8 looks REALLY weird…

    *takes a chocolate*

  44. MoreBeans

Perhaps 9 is trying to beat the Dalek consciousness out of 10 with the killing him/Rose, a bit like the detox in The Unicorn and the Wasp XD. 10 looks as suprised as the companions (except Turlough :P ) in the 8th panel.

  45. Stormwolf

Wait… Nine *not* listening to Rose? Woah…the situation is worse than I thought.

  46. TeenageMage

    Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

    …….
Ten almost looks like he’s smiling in panel two there. Must be a stray line or something. He does look very blank, which is incredibly spooky. I wonder what David Tennant would think if he saw this.
I think Nine must be going slightly insane by this point-I mean literally slightly insane. All the stress of the incorrect timeline and now this.
*hops behind the couch* We should install a popcorn machine back here.

  47. Leylue

Whoa! Go One! Get him! When has outright killing ever been an option? We always had to really thing about it and absolutely have no other options. I see plenty of options still and I bet so does One.

  48. ninjac

yelp! Hopping behind sofa with a bottle of whiskey. I know its early, but a stiff drink is needed after all of this!!!

  49. Psyduck Ranger

“What are you Doctor, killer or coward?” “Coward. Any day.”

Someone already mentioned this, but still, I don’t think he could kill…although I think he’d be more willing to kill himself than anyone else…plus one would think he’s more similar to 10 than any other, being the closest to him, thereby knowing him better. Plus they do seem to be fairly similar anyway, in my experience. 9 is dark with moments of bonkersness, whilst 10 is bonkers with moments of darkness. I also think 9 would be more willing than 10 to let Rose die, but still…

This is the man who, according to your own timeline, will, in his very next (televised) adventure cry out “Everybody lives! Just this once!” and so on. He’s a man who loves life, and I don’t believe he could possibly end a life, without truly having to, so long as he has a choice.

Although maybe this is like in Bad Wolf, where the daleks say something, threatening Rose, then The Doctor says “No”, making it sound like he’d be willing to let Rose die. Maybe this is like that…

    Either way it’s fab stuff.

  50. Refusenik1

He looks like he’s about to attack someone using Ch’i energy or something… it’s Manga Turlough!

  51. Webnomad

Shouldn’t it be “regenerated neurons” or “regenerated synapses”? I mean getting a new keyboard won’t change your computers programing ;)

  52. MoreBeans

Popcorn machines? Whiskey? Chocolate? Never mind the people, the sofa’s getting crowded with refreshments!

  53. Stormwolf

    >>When has outright killing ever been an option? <<

Very true, though 9 is quite broken in the head at this point in his personal time line. Call it Time War-related PTSD. This comic really kind of drives home why 10 thought 10.5 was too dangerous to stay in the normal universe. “That’s me when we first met.” Yikes, no kidding he’s too dangerous to be on his own.

  54. Percy

Looks like One’s learned to appreciate those pesky humans after all! Ooh, I’m biting my fingernails in worry, look what you’ve brought me to!
In other news, Turlough’s bored expression amuses me immensely.

  55. Helen

Yeah go 1! I’m also loving Ten’s stupified expression! Actually I would look forward to David tennant’s reaction to this, but i am hoping four has a plan and they try to help ten, not try to kill him, although I feel like placing an arm accross his gob, like 9! lol

  56. Refusenik1

Okay, so to me, it’s a ‘baleful glare’, whilst to others, it’s an ‘eye-roll’, a ‘bored expression’, or possibly just gas. Just goes to show how subjective these things can be, I guess…
Shyeah right. *So* obviously a baleful glare.

  57. 494alex

lol the ‘true death’ comment is a reference to Last of the Time Lords when the Master dies isnt it?

  58. who am I

You can have the sofa!I want a front row seat to 1 vs. 9(9 dosen’t stand a chance!)Hartnell in full rage is more scary than anything the Daleks can come up with and rough on the ears to boot(ask the sensorites!)!

  59. BRF

Now this is interesting. I can understand where 9 is going with this, Dalek Tor is an abomination that even the Master would be scared of (worse even than the Valyard) and evrything else is secondery to that. But… damn it man! What do you think you are doing, hmmm… ? You invited Rose into the TARDIS her safety should be your top piority, the same goes for any of the companions. It is telling that 9 said “kill it” not “kill him” a small but psicologically important difference, he has stopped thinking of 10 as a person, just as a Dalek. And we all know how 9 feels about Daleks.

I love panel 6a/6b. It’s chilling beyond beleif.

  60. Darren

Hmmm. Is D1 outraged because D9 is risking (a bluff, maybe) Rose’s life, or because his later embodiment, D10, life being at risk? This D1 is from the period prior to when he developed any compassion for humans (See An Unearthly Child for his electrocution of Ian Chesterton and his attempt to kill a caveman to get back to the TARDIS).

  61. LeilaDrake

Watch the spit coming from 1’s mouth… poor Ten. I really like the tenth Doctor… :-( Anyway, great page nonetheless!

  62. dalektaliban

    what a dick!

  63. Stormwolf

Well, to be fair, if the Daleks caused you to have to sacrifice your entire people, you’d be a dick too. Cut the poor man some slack. :)

  64. Kino

I agree with latture; it’s time for a joke page! ^_^

  65. CG

    1 vs 9 :D
It’s been hinted at since the start of the comic. Can’t wait for the next page.
9’s the only Doctor who’s not been shown to look up to 1. Well maybe 4 as well :P

  66. Maki P

I’m not that familiar with 9, but I’ve always though he was kind of crazy (so is 10, but in a more harmless way); and this comic seems to confirm it.
Y’know what? I think this is a good time to 4 to show up and have his moment.

  67. Kino

Actually, what would make a really funny joke page, would be one where not only does Nine kill ten and cause a regeneration, but the Daleks all open fire, and all the other Doctors get exterminated as well, so at the last panel, we have a bunch of newly regenerated Doctors standing around in the carnage, all looking extremely confused. =)

Except, though, we’d probably have two versions of three, ’cause 2.5 would probably regenerate into Three. (Unless, of course, he’d regenerate into 3.5, which would sure be interesting. ;D)

  68. DJ

Hey! I’m coming behind the sofa with some jelly babies. (A lure for Dr #4. Where is he? Do I need to re-read my character index?)
Great work, Rich. The suspense is incredible.

  69. Remorse1994

The annoying thing is we know ten can’t die or regenerate, as that would affect the continuity of other episodes, this story being set just before series 3.
Sorry for the spoiler, but I’m just stating the obvious.

  70. Ammy

Floppy broad-brimmed hats off to ya Rich, to keep this level of emotion going while staying focused on the story. I used to try creative writing in my previous incarnation (before uni) and I know how hard it is.
I don’t mind all you kids being behind the sofa, just stay quiet or we’ll miss something! I’ll get the milk and cookies when the lights go up, I just might not have any fingernails left…

  71. Mhemzille

Ooh, the excitement of a first comment!

It’s looking rather likely that i’ll be joining the sofa crew after this page – good work by the way!

Is it just me, or is Ten treated a bit like a ‘thing’? He looks ‘empty’. Maybe his plan was to switch himself off in order to block out the Dalek conditioning and rely on good ol’ Captain Jack to save the day?

As for the look on Turlough’s face… seems as though he’s giving Nine ‘the look’! For Vicky Pollard, it’s ‘giving you evils’, for Naboo, it’s turning his back on you…

and for Turlough, it must be the look of constipation.

  72. Fangarius

Well, seems inevitable Doctor Nine would take a desperate stand, however, don’t count out Doctors Four, Five and Eight. They can still do some damage enough to cause something incredible. Stranger things have happened.

  73. Sean

Thank you, Remorse1994! Someone who understands that 10 AND Rose CAN’T DIE! Otherwise, there is no Series 3, 9 isn’t on the Gamestation to be saved by Rose and make himself regenerate into 10 (cause it says this happens before they meet Jack), and Rich would have to do a whole “Turn Left” SERIES to address every other paradox created by that. However, I do want to see how they stop this and free 10.

Excellent work, Rich. Yours is the first page I go to see every morning in hopes of an update, and though I missed it this morning, you did not disappoint! I love how you draw 9, 1’s profile, and the reactions of the companions. And picking the dendrites to reject the conditioning: you know your anatomy very well.

  74. Jayster

Just outta interest… am I the only guy whos fave classic doctor is 4? I haven’t seen many, but quite a few UKTV ones (the 4th Doctor and Romana time, now they’ve stopped coz it turned into a channel called ‘Watch’) and Sci-Fi TV Doctor Who marathon ones.
5 was pretty good, but I think he’s kinda over-rated.
And the 8th Doctor movie was kinda cheesy. No offence to any fans.

  75. Anita

I gotta ask: hair on 10’s chest? Has anyone ever seen 10 without his clothes on?

    OMG don’t answer that question…..

    a.

  76. Darren

Jayster: Tom Baker was the best! He was the first Doc I watched, first time round in the 70s. Back in the time before VHS and DVDs, when you made plans as a family to sit down and watch a programme and if you missed it, you had to wait 6 months before you saw it again via repeats. And it was actually scary, too (before we all got jaded after watching films like Star Wars) and my older brothers regularly made fun of me watching from behind the sofa (and still do!). I’ll join all my fellow whovians from futher up this page behind the sofa, and I’ll bring a pack of Spangles!

  77. Elliee Vaness

So many people are hiding behind the couch, but I’m happy where I am on the edge of my seat!

Also, am I the only one who hasn’t forgotten that 3 and 6 are still on their way? Where are they, anyway? Can’t wait to see what happens when they finally show up.

  78. Jayster

Anita: Watch ‘Journey’s End’. Don’t worry, no unneccasary bits shown (after all, it’s a family show)

  79. Mhemzille

Anita – when 10.5 was created from 10’s hand and Donna, he was naked. so yup, there was probably chesthair, although I can’t remember much myself! oh dear, I’d better watch series 4 again so I CAN remember!

It’s nice to see that Rich cares about those little extra details that make the characters complete, you know?

Also I forgot to say, fantastic companions! You’ve captured them all rather well in my opinion! AND you are one of the few people who can actually draw Ten. I myself on the other hand am not one of those few.

    Sorry for the double post!

  80. Os

@Rich: Thank you, sir, once again. Despite Nine’s well-known hatred/phobia for daleks, i did not see either dramatic event on this page happening.

@Kino: Your thought is insane but is blowing my mind.

    Cheers,
    Os.

  81. mmm122

    Brilliant!

  82. Captain Shade

Groovie stuff, Rich. Nine is always so angsty.

  83. gecks

all ten really needs, is someone who can talk to him, face to face, somehone who shares his pain, like captain pike, he can give him one heck of a beeping off i tell you!!

  84. carol

Whoa! Ticked off 1 vs a really gone over the edge 9! Not good! And why is 10 looking a bit buggy at the end?!

  85. Shannen

    Tsufutswhatsfutswh-NINE!!!! HOW DARE YOU!
But, of course, it doesn’t stop me from grinning.
*stays on sofa, her eyes glued to computer screen, munchin’ down on popcorn (and I have my own chocolates!)*

  86. Straker

    violet,

actually, if theres one thing that Doctor who has taught us is that the entirety of history can change radically, lest you forget the 9th Doctor story with Charles Dickens and the Gelth Zombies.

I just don’t think that 9 is quite that blood thirsty unless he has a plan all along. He MAY be counting on 1s reaction but, I don’t know what with the thought baloons you placed in the first few panels.

  87. Sean

I’m a little annoyed that you drew Turlough as though he could care less about any of them. He IS capable of caring, you know.

  88. Child of Zion

*Eyes get wide* Uh-oh, spaghetti-o’s. Please be bluffing, 9, please. It’s just what you would do at a time like this. Remember the time when you said you were gonna fry the Dalek emperor and tricked Rose into leaving? And then you didn’t fry him? Remember that?

    Anxiously waiting,
    ~CoZ

  89. li'l hobbit

Wow…….GO 1!!!! I really hope something won’t happen to 8 that may make 9 change…I know nothing has yet, but perhaps in the future, 9’s past that’s affecting his reasoning…idk I just want to think that this isn’t all 9 talking here :(

  90. Kirrithian

Wowsies! I was directed to this a little while back, and have loved it ever since.

And guys… is there any room behind that sofa for one more?

Hope number 9 doesn’t end up doing anything too stupid.

  91. karen

ooooh! how exciting! I’m loving 10’s chesthair btw ;)

  92. XBen

The thing that got me here was the statement that 9 makes about being at the centre of both sides of the War. Maybe I’m just slow but it didn’t occur to me until recently in this comic that I could be possibly reading Rich’s take on the Great Time War! So you could interpret that 9 is saying that he is aware of this, and that the war has already begun. Of course, he could also just be saying that he just knows it is coming up sometime “soon” (for the relative present).

Also, I don’t find 9’s actions out of character here. Sure he shouts out “everybody lives” in a forthcoming adventure, but to me that could just be the voice of a broken man who is rediscovering his principles, rather than one who has staunchly lived by them. I sort of feel like that’s really the big story arc of Season 1 of the new series.

  93. Mitchell Craig

Just had a thought. In some circles, the Dalek’s threat to kill Rose could be read as a cheap bid for sympathy on its part.

    HA! I KILL ME!

Oh, yeah, there’s lotsa room behind the sofa…but (sniff, sniff) I think some of y’all are starting to ripen up a tad.

  94. The Voyager

Really? Does The First understand the magnitude of the situation? I suppose he can;t grasp the pure evil that is the Dalek’s yet.

  95. KatKlingon

BEHIND the sofa? I’m finding UNDER it a lot roomier. I think some of the treat crumbs are going to start attracting some unwelcomed visitors soon though.

  96. Glenn Jupp

Come out from behind the couch, everybody. You’re going to miss the good bit.

And the Vashta Nerada will find some good bits :)

  97. phantomfighter

is there room for one more behind that couch?
“gulp, not rose anybody but rose!”

  98. WhoRU?

To be honest, come to think about it.

If Doctor number 9 was involved in the time war as per canon in the tv shows, technically Rose should have not been involved because it occurred before him meeting Rose.

Unless there is two Doctor number 9, in which case there is a chance that Doctor number 8 will be regenerating into Doctor number 9 and the new Doctor number 9 will finish the whole time war story off as per TV show canon.

  99. Whatsit

If 10 has any part of his mind left, he’d better find a way of letting it be known mighty fast…..

  100. Rich

Holy smokes. There’s just no way to respond to all of you anymore. There’s always nigh on 100 comments when I get a chance to look when I get home from work. I will say this however:
re: Turlough’s face. These drawings never come out exactly the way I visualize them and they look different scanned than they do in the originals. I can see how Turlough’s expression appears bored. But it wasn’t meat to be. In this panel my intention was to make him look indignant, angered, and betrayed. Remember this takes place after “Enlightenment” in his time line and so the Doctor has not only shown faith in him despite his own treacherous behaviour, but also saved his life and taken him in as a friend. He’s supposed to be just as shocked as the others, but expressing it in a truly Turloughish sort of way.

  101. the oncoming satsuma

thank you Rich, for this wonderful edition

ten has something up his ’sleeve’ (well if he had a sleeve) cause can you see how he is not going “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!”
if i was i dalek i would so leave 9 smoldering in ashes

i also want to say Hilary you are awesome too
    seriously, wardrobe work appreciated
    and everything else you do

i also have a question; it is about The Forgotten, that comic in america
i would love to read it but i reside in Australia so i was wondering if it is going to be brought to Australia and if so when?
    i would really appreciate it

also great work again Rich and Hilary

  102. Lee

Crazy thought, but what if this is all part of Nine’s plan?
After all, he knew to go save Four and Five from plummeting to their doom, he knew to go save all the companions and One from the dying star…

We know Nine *has* to survive this and regenerate into Ten, what if this is all some crazy predestination paradox thing that Ten has repressed memories about, which somehow Nine got hold of during the memory zap waaaay back at the start? So he knows how it is going to play out, in true wibbly wobbly timey wimey style!
“You remembered being me, watching you doing that!”

  103. Faul T Wiring

I was going to comment on Turlough’s expression…but you said it was technology’s fault.
I can’t blame Dr 1 for losing his temper at 10…I’d lose my temper as well if my future regeneration was going to kill its future regeneration…if that makes any sense.

    Love your comix Rich

PS I haven’t been able to access the internet (although it was very slow today) because of the fires in Victoria. Two fires forty km away is too close for comfort on a windy 46C (114F) day. This comic made me a whole lot happier.
    Thanx. :D

  104. Countess

I wonder what would happen if the Doctors tried that memory zap now, with 10 being part Dalek.

I think the couch is somewhat like the Tardis — bigger than it appears! Pass that bottle over here :)

  105. Countess

And Faul T Wiring, I hope that you and yours can stay safe and that those fires die down soon. Best wishes to all in Australia.

  106. Turnip

Oh, dear. This is what we call a ‘lose – lose’ situation, couch dwellers…
Nine could never live with the fact that his future self is a Dalek, yet I don’t think he’d forgive himself if he basically caused Rose to die. Hell if he does, hell if he doesn’t. Luckily One has had enough of this angsty nonsense and will put the smack down on the lot of them.

And I love the companions. Rose’s face is totally screaming, “Okay, I’d seriously appreciate some help here!” but there’s also a hint of, “Don’t do anything stupid – I know what you’re like.” The others are all like, “Hey! That’s not how the formula goes! We get held at gunpoint, you surrender, then surprise them with a totally brilliant plan! Then we all go for milkshakes from Nardox XVII!”

…In other words it’s emotional and scary and intense so I have to make my interpretations of facial expressions as lighthearted as possible. Argh. I wish I had a fraction of your storytelling talent. Then maybe my stuff wouldn’t suck…

  107. the oncoming satsuma

okay i am sorry about the double posting when i have like a post i little way up there but i just want to say something

as soon as 9 said that theory about not regenerating the other Dalek held Rose at gunpoint
which means they don’t know that the regeneration will work!!!
    has anyone noticed that?

  108. Faul T Wiring

Thanks Countess. The two nearest fires are out or contained. I’ve got relatives near Bunyip (the fire there is still dangerous, especially if the wind changes direction and the two big ones join up, god forbid) Fortunately, no-one I know lives in Kinglake (30 confirmed dead in that area).
I’ll shut up about the fires now, this is a Doctor Who page.

  109. IHatePears

    Stop doctor on doctor violence

  112. EricInWisconsin

Let’s all go to the sofa,
Let’s all go to the sofa,
Let’s all go to the sofa,
    And get ourselves a treat.

  113. Doctor Who lover!!!!!

By the way the tenth doctor is soooooooooooooooooo HOT!!!

  114. Turnip

Oh, calm down. Ten could seriously use some good roughing up. Maybe it’d lower his god complex a peg or two. Honestly he’s not even that pretty. I don’t understand why people obsess over him so much. Is it the shoes? Converse are so overplayed; they’re like some bad teen band in shoe form. And they have like no arch support and aren’t waterproof at all. And if it’s age, Five was younger. And he had celery. Celery is way cooler than a banana.

  115. Rich

    Doctor Who lover!!!!!
Yeah, I pop on when I can. I just get overwhelmed by all the comments sometimes. But I do try to answer things once in a while. :D

  116. Percy

Turnip: Too true. But, being the weird older-man fancier that I am, I think Pat Troughton was the best looking. *shifty eyes* WHAT? Stop looking at me!
Ahem. Again, this page is just great! Sorry I though Turlough looked bored…I can see angry there now that I’ve looked again.

  117. David

I’m sorry, it just looks like 9 is going to topple over with 10 in the second panel! XD lol

  118. the oncoming satsuma

    QUESTION:
i know i asked this before up there but i am having no luck finding out the answer and i am getting a little frustrated cause along the way i keep finding things out about the comic i don’t want to know until i read it, in other words spoilers.

and know i know i had a person who had been in contact with Tony here so if i can ask Rich or Hilary or anyone who knows

    QUESTION HERE

my question is will the comic ‘The Forgotten’ be released in Australia?
    if so when and where?

    QUESTION HERE
    PLEASE ANSWER

  119. phantomfighter

it kinda looks like 10 is biting 9’s arm off in the 2nd panel! lol :D

  120. CloudNine

    Er…
[Takes a glance at the mass of bodies, food wrappers and mess {hey, it's a college dorm!} that's formed behind the couch] Naaah. I’m watching this one. I’m not even blinking.
I may be signing my own death warrant, but I challenge the notion that One is going to OWN Nine. Honestly, I think that at this point in their storylines, they’re almost equally ruthless, and Nine, well…he’s been through the Time War. More importantly, he ended it; he exterminated his own kind, and, to paraphrase the Doctor, he watched both civilisations burn. I don’t see One having the ability to do that, and at this point in his (admittedly) unstable emotional state, I don’t have a problem seeing him not back down to One…or even possibly have One back down to him.
Granted, it’s the utmost of unlikely, but still…I’d just like to reiterate that, in the Grand Thesaurus of All Things, there is a picture of Nine, followed by text reading, “See Also: Dangerous, scarred, tortured, dark, mentally unstable.”
However, I do question this situation itself; not the willing-to-murder-Ten-and-stare-down-One-borderline-psychosis, but his willingness to sacrifice Rose. Recall “World War 3″? He could save the Earth–a planet he has saved countless times, chancing the consequences–but he couldn’t bring himself to risk Rose’s life. Even then, he wouldn’t allow anything to happen to her. Adding in the fact that he was willing to risk tearing the fabric of reality for her in “Father’s Day”, I have to conclude that at this point already he is entirely devoted to her. Therein, I simply can’t see him sacrificing her for anything.
Quite a point for the “I-have-a-plan” argument some of the rest of us have posted.
And now I’ve gone and written a novella.
    Whoops. :-[

  121. Maki P

Before I forget, I’d like to take a moment to comment how great this comic is, it’s weird, but it doesn’t feel like a FanWork, not like the Fan Fiction I’ve read (I really got to stop reading Rose/Doctor fanfiction). This actually feels like Canon!
Rich have you considered writting for Doctor Who? This could be your resume!

  122. Hilary

satsuma: The reason you haven’t received an answer is because we don’t know. Rich has chatted with Tony, yes, but has never had any reason to ask about Australian distribution – and I’d wager even Tony, as the writer, isn’t personally involved with any import/export decisions. You’re much better off checking on Australian comic book forums. This is not the place.

  123. CloudNine

    Oh, 3 little things:
    1) I agree with Maki; this is one hell of a point on the resume, particularly given the shout-outs it’s been given.
    2) I would like to add my voice to the request for a joke panel of some kind; it is, of course, your call, My Liege Rich, but after this panel, some serious humour is needed for a healthy mindset, methinks.
    3) I did not notice until posting that last comment that I said that Nine “exterminated” his own kind along with the Daleks. [punches air] Yeah, unintended irony!

  124. the oncoming satsuma

thank you Hilary i appreciate your reply
have fun doing whatever you guys do when not on the internet

  125. Rich

    Maki P/CloudNine:
I’d love to work on the actual series, for sure! But I don’t think it’s that easy. I have no actual legitimate writing credits and I’ve only worked in animation. I put a feeler out towards the special effects department out there, but all I got was an indication that they don’t really use storyboards. I’m not qualified to do their fancy 3D effects. Top all that off, I don’t belong to any guilds or unions in Canada or England, so I don’t think that’s at all likely.
But if anyone out there is a show crew member and you’re looking at this comic and are at all impressed… contact me! :D

  126. John

You know, there are also publishers that do fan fiction books as well with the procedes going to charity. Perhaps you could do that as well.

  127. Ivriniel

Seems a wee bit out of character for early One, given the way he was going to off that caveman in An UnEarthly Child.

  128. violet

    @CloudNine:

I agree nearly completely with your “novella”!
I have no doubt that he would kill himself rather then become a Dalek. And he did risk Rose’s life in “Dalek” in order to contain the “last” of his mortal enemies (though he didn’t actively sacrifice her like here). But after that episode it feels out of character for him.

Also, I don’t know much about classic Doctor Who, so I might be overlooking something here, but it’s always strange to see the later incarnations give in to the first Doctor. I mean, they all have more experience than him. It’s like an middle aged adult letting himself be bossed around by a know-it-all youngster fresh out of college. So I usually interpret it as them letting him lead because they remember he had good organizing / analyzing skills or just indulging him because they remember they would have thrown a fit if someone had attacked their authority in that first incarnation. Nine rarely has the patience to indulge anyone’s authority under the best of circumstances, and even less when he actually disagrees with them. The only way I can see him backing down is if One appeals to his conscience á la “What the hell are you thinking, sacrificing an innocent like that!? You’re no better than one of them!!”. Because that always works with Nine.

Also, about Ten’s lack of reaction… Considering how suicidal he was in the first half of S3, he might not actually object to being killed if it helps to defeat the Daleks…

  129. gecks

satsuma: according to amazon, The Forgotten won’t be released till april this year, so it sounds like it hasn’t even hit the book shelves in the states yet…

ahhhh Turlough’s look of of non surprise, heh heh

  130. A.leon

Guys, we’re gunna need a bugger sofa.

  131. A.leon

    er bigger* sorry.

  132. cosmosmith

kill Mel, go on Rich, no one likes her.

You’re all thinking it, I’m just saying it

  133. Ch1ps

I think there’s quite enough deaths in DW without Rich helping XD (Jack doesn’t count, he’s almost immortal…almost).

    Ohhh, what a nail-biter! Will 10 be alright? T_T

  134. basser

Ten’s buggy eyes in the last panel make me think Nine is subconsciously tightening his arm as One yells at him, haha. Way to solve violence with more violence gramps.

Also having fun imagining DT with a constant “:I” face. Kinda bummed that he doesn’t have any companions here that know him well enough to be really creeped out by the sight of him sitting still for more than five seconds. D:

  135. 494alex

lol 10s been taking manic repressant pills if he that still. the daleks have pills for subjugating any doctor: grumpy pills, midget pills, polarity pills, scarfandhat pills, celeryandcricket pills, midlifecrisis pills, darker midget pills, oneoff pills, bitterangryjustgotoutofawar pills, everything really.

  136. MoreBeans

494alex, the Daleks should open a pharmaceutical company – I’m sure there are plenty of the Doctor’s other foes wouldn’t mind getting their grubby mitts on some of those.

  137. Child of Zion

@ Rich: On your february 10th post you meant “meant” rather than “meat”, yes? :D

    ~CoZ

  138. Tangerine

I think 9 should do it, just to see the shock on everyone’s faces.
    And slap number 1.

  139. Lewis

    >And slap number 1.<

    Just, no!

  140. Nightwind

Aweeeesome. This is the best I’ve seen out of 9 yet. Just the right amount of nihilistic venom that’s make his version so unique. Everyone’s reactions are perfect to it.

  141. dalektaliban

i love turloughs expression “ehh schow what?”

  142. shinyblackdalek

Wonderful stuff, absolutely wonderful! The last four panels are just superb and far better than the T.V. version. I like the idea of the First Doctor berating his later regeneration in such a manner.

  143. Blödi

Ten’s face in the last panel is HILARIOUS!!! And a bit creepy, mind…
