The 4th, 5th and 6th Doctors are getting in eachothers’ ways and on eachothers’ nerves. To mitigate the damage, the 3rd Doctor orders 2 of them to find something else to do. He suggests going to Gallifrey to follow the lead they picked up on the Daleks, Sontarans and the Master. In a huff, the 4th Doctor stomps off. The 3rd Doctor sends the 5th Doctor to accompany him.

Yay! It’s back! I love Three being all parental and sending Five to look after Four, and how everyone likes or at least tolerates Five. True disharmony from our favourite Time Lord, ten times over!
I’ve noticed that the earlier the Doctor, the more authority he has. This is a bit unconventional, in my opinion, seeing that those Doctors are younger and therefore have less experience and skills.
Maybe it’s just because they look older. Weird.

Ah, a natural choice to assist those on Gallifrey: After all, these two logged far more time dealing with the home planet (Deadly Assassin, Invasion of Time, Arc of Infinity, Five Doctors) than the others. Great call, great page.

Zamael – this has always been the way of the TV series, as well as this comic. The suggestion on TV is that the First Doctor in particular was generally more ‘naturally’ intelligent than his successors, but maybe the older Doctors look back on their previous selves through rose tinted glasses, and as such are happy to take direction from them?
Besides, would you REALLY want 6 in charge of the operation?
But they are both ‘brillo-heads’ . . . i love how Doc 3 was in charge and having Doc 5 being likeable.
