The 10 Doctors – Page 161

Omega confronts the Celestial Toymaker for making a fool of him, but the Toymaker points out that he has no choice but to trust him.

The 2.5th Doctor tries to comfort Omega, but Omega vows to take him to oblivion wth him if his plan fails. The Doctor is saddened by this reply, but he did expect it.

Meanwhile the Toymaker returns to the game only to discover that the 2nd Doctor has beaten him.

Does it say Ombega in one panel? It’s a lot of fun seeing this sequence, with the second Doctor looking like a little kid playing the game. Did he win legitimately or did he cheat? I don’t suppose you could easily cheat against someone like the Celestial Toymaker.

  2. Phoenix

Wow – Omega having major strop and stomping off in Panel 6 – love it.

And the Doctor Wins! – Lets ust hope it’s not a best out of 3 situation.

  3. Phoenix

I meant “just” there not ust – sorry – fingers went faster than brain – it happens!

  4. Robotech_Master

What game were 2 and Celly playing?

  5. BRF

Oh, poor Omega! You just can’t get the minions these days…

  6. Rich

    XBen:
    Uh…yes.

    Gold star.

    Phoenix:
Tune in tomorrow to find out!
HAH! And I typed Ombega. See? See? It happens!

    Robotech Master.
    Tennis

    BRF:
    Ain’t it the truth?

  7. Sean

For some really WEIRDO reason, I almost feel sorry for Toymaker. He strikes me as a childish character, and I like kids quite a bit.

I feel more sorry for Omega, though. He made a supreme sacrifice back when he had a real body, and now look at him. I think his loneliness drove him over the brink.

I do like 2.5, however. I hope he gets to meet the other Doctors, particuarly 3. Imagine it…

  8. Fizzix

LOL. Look away for a couple of seconds to take care of a false Doctor and your (minion’s) plan falls to pieces. Great comic, Rich.

  9. Glenn Jupp

Love it when the baddies get to backstabbing each other. One question, though…

Omega grabbed Celly’s robe. Shouldn’t there have been a matter/antimatter big boom, he-dies-she-dies-everybody-dies? Unless the Toymaker is made of antimatter himself. But then he’s playing from the same deck as the Doctor, so big boom, he-dies-etc.-etc. So, that means… umm??

“If you’re wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts, then say to yourself ‘it’s just a show, I really should relax.’”

Ahhh. I feel much better now. Carry on with the excellent story Rich.

  10. Countess

If it’s the toymaker’s universe that he created himself maybe he created it so that he could touch Omega, perhaps for some nefarious purpose. He obviously wasn’t worried about being threatened by Omega.
So, is Doctor 2.5 going to disappear into oblivion? I hope he goes heroically.
Also, is that someone standing outside of the Tardis in the distance? Is that Glitz?

  11. Phoenix

…Rich answer to Robotech Master – Tennis.

Rich – You are bad man, bad – LOL

  12. Lord President Lundar

    He won! But how?

  13. IShallComeBackOhYesIShallComeBack

@Countess: Maybe his robes where made up by Om(b)ega and are antimatter and maybe he’s wearing matter gloves…Who knows?

  14. Scratch

    Omega’s tantrum…priceless, Rich.

  15. KatKlingon

Panel six, I do believe Omega beats the War Chief as a pouty teenager!
That really should teach Omega to not interrupt a minon.
I can imagine Glitz is wondering just WHAT is going on out there!?

  16. Mendou

Is it just me, or does this version of Omega look not worlds removed from Daffy Duck in the midst of a battle of wits with Bugs Bunny? I’m really enjoying this comic, despite this being my first comment. Thanks, Rich, for a wonderful addition to my day!

  17. Heather

@ Glenn Jupp & Countess: Rich explained how he structured the matter/antimatter issue a couple of pages ago. Here’s the relevant bit from his comment:

Incidently, the pocket universe here follows the following rules in my comic:
Omega comes from an anti-matter universe.
The Doctor from the matter universe we all know and love.
The Celestial Toymaker exists outside of both and was slowly bringing himself back together after the 1st Doctor defeated him.
Omega brought him together so he could create this universe that is made of neither but spans both.
They have to enter and leave it through a special portal while the Toymaker lives there.
The Doctor arrived in the TARDIS (dragged in by the Toymaker)
    Omega has a special doorway.
Omega can interact with the Toymaker and his universe with no problem.
The Doctor can interact with the Toymaker and his universe with no problem.
They cannot interact with eachother without creating a massive explosion that will nuke all three universes.

Just to save Rich having to explain it all yet again. :)

  18. Percy

Is it just me, or does Crazy 8s sound a lot like Uno?
And I adore 2.5’s face in panel six..
But will the Toymaker let the Doctor go? I’m beginning to think he’ll let 2 go, but maybe they’ll destroy 2.5, which won’t actually affect the Doctors, will it, because he’s just a projection…

  19. WhoRU?

I’m with you Percy about Crazy 8’s but before “Uno”, there was “Last Card.” Looks like Doctor 2.5 is a projection that is going to be destroyed.

  20. erdmann

Hey, Rich. I’ve been reading this for a long while now, but I’ve never posted ’til now. First, I want to say this is an amazing comic and I absolutely love it. Second, I have a question. On Omega’s personal timeline, does your story occur between “The Three Doctors” and “Arc of Infinity?” It’s just that his depiction here seems more in line with the earlier story. Anyway, this is great stuff.

  21. Mreen

    Yup – that’s how you win…

And as long as Omega didnt touch the playing cards, he was find to handle the Toymaker. Remember, the Toymaker is not matter from our universe and can interact with both. See the repeat of all that in Heather’s comment :)

  22. Mitchell Craig

Maybe 2.5 calling Omega “Ombega” was a typo, but it sounds like the sort of thing the Doctor would do; playing with his foes’ heads, and consequently saving the day/the world/the universe/your choice.

Mendou: Omega’s resemblance to Daffy Duck (in terms of character) is a very apt observation. Daffy tends to overinvest himself in any contest with Bugs Bunny, and his inability to see the forest for the trees leads to his downfall.

Pretty much like what’s going to happen to Omega, I’ll reckon.

BTW: Apropos of nothing, I wouldn’t mind having unlimited rice pudding – and chocolate syrup to go with it.

  23. James

    Fantastic new comic

  24. Mitchell Craig

It’s something I should have mentioned earlier, but I hope you are aware of the passing of Forrest J. Ackerman – creator/editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland, science fiction literary agent, and collector of related memorabilia. I had the good fortune to get letters published in FM, and Doctor Who was featured in a cover story (back when the Tom Baker episodes were making their way into the US).

He touched all corners of fandom, and we’ll miss him.

  25. Lewis

The Celestial Toymaker, Om(b)ega, Rassilon, The Trickster and the Master should all team up in a mental Christmas special :P

Well, maybe not. Rich, this gets better and better and you’re “tune in tomorrow” makes it sound really exciting that 1) new page daily and 2) what the hell happens now?! ^___^

  26. Mad_ad

    Hi Rich,

    Discovered this amazing comic today
    - I’ve just read the entire thing, it took me all day
(I am at work and have not done a THING all day!)

Keep up the good work this is so fantastic!

    :o )

  27. Refusenik1

Mitchell: I love your analogy between the Doctor and Bugs Bunny – spot on! But does that make Davros Yosemite Sam? The roughest, toughest hombre west of Mutter’s spiral…

  28. Doctorparadox

In the 7th panel, Rich, is omega saying “Doctori”? Or “Doctor!”?

  29. Remorse1994

Is glitz still in the tardis? Or aren’t you allowed to tell us because that would be a spoiler?

  30. Jonn Wolfe

I’m also seeing someone next to the TARDIS. <_<

  31. Maureen MacDonald

I’m with Sean when it comes to feeling sorry for the Toymaker. Maybe it’s just because I haven’t seen his story and so don’t know what nasty things he’s done. Maybe it’s because he’s after universal domination not in the name of evil, but in the name of fun. Or maybe it’s just the cool outfit. In any case, I like him.

  32. kingofall42

hey Rich great new page. congrats. are at any point you going to include the companions you have missed out like Ian Chesterton
Barbara Wright Vicki Steven Taylor Katarina Sara Kingdom Dodo Chaplet Polly Wright Ben Jackson Liz Shaw John Benton Michael Yates Adric Kamelion Adam Mitchell Astrid Peth Donna Noble Mickey Smith. other than that great comic keep it up

  33. Lewis

My whole comment didn’t post :(

Basically, in response to kingofall42, the answer is “No, see the FAQ”

And the “Doctori/Doctor!” thing is an exclamation mark.

(Oh and who is that by the TARDIS? Drax?)

  34. carol

Yay! 2 won but who is that near the TARDIS?

  35. Lewis

    Gotta be Drax… surely?

  36. Lewis

    …or Kameleon o_O

  37. Captain Shade

Drax is with Nine, in his CARDIS

  38. Teenage Mage

*Sigh* Looks like it’s time to go troll hunting again.
    *Pulls out special troll-hunting crossbow*

I love Doctor 2.5’s expression in panel Six. I’ve seen similar expressions on the faces of my dogs. Of course,I don’t think my dogs aren’t wanted dead by several powerful alien beings armed with a grudge and a Xanatos Gambit.

But then again, they could be. Anything’s possible.

  39. The Voyager

Wait, what actually happens when doctor 2.5 is killed or destroyed? Would it affect his later regenerations? Or would nothing occur, considering he is technically just a mental construct.

  40. Lewis

Bah! I meant Glitz, not Drax.

When 2.5 “dies”, nothing will happen because 2 projected him. He shouldn’t affect 3 or any further regenerations.

  41. whopix

This is fast becoming the first thing I check out when I log on t` interweb – Emails and even the Oupost can wait!
36 continuous days of fanbrillitasticant Ten Doctors Whooey Squeeness – Rich you`re spoiling us!

  42. Jay

See what did i tell you the Doctor always ahs the ace up his sleve no pun intende there or maybe it’s the old maid hmmm!?

  43. ericinwisconsin

After losing, the Toymaker went on to become the faithful butler of an American superhero… :)

Great, as always, Rich. I love the expressiveness of your faces. Always well done!

  44. Vulpis

Oh dear, I just had a sad thought–if Omega comes in contact with a like amount of matter, *will* the explosion destroy all three universes, or just rupture the Toymaker’s little pocket space (no offense but while an antimatter explosion is powerful, I don’t think that something with Omega’s mass would be *that* powerful)? If the latter, I have the mental image of 2 and Glitz escaping with the Tardis…while 2.5 stays behind and gives Omega the hearty handshake he avoided earlier (Or maybe just hugs…)

  45. Lewis

    >if Omega comes in contact with a like amount of matter, *will* the explosion destroy all three universes<

I believe Rich’s answer to that is “yes”. From a page or two back (in the comments). Eeek.

  46. Child of Zion

*Gives sad moan as nothing explodes when Omega grabs the Toymaker*
*Shakes head as the Doctor is good to Omega and tries to comfort and console him*
    *Laughs at Omega’s 3-year-old attitude*
*Cheers 2 on and laughs again at the Toymaker’s face*
You could knock him over with a thought. Ha.

Incredible, Rich. Eagerly awaiting the next bit.

    ~CoZ

  47. Glenn Jupp

@ Heather… OH! I missed that bit. Thanks.

So, Celly is some kind of neutral matter. Clever, Rich. It would have taken me much too long to think of that, seeing as I’m quite relaxed right now :)

  48. Farmboy

Toymaker could just be like the stuff Omega was using in The Three Doctors – made from “the raw stuff of matter”.

  49. Rich

For everyone who feels that my Omega looks a lot like Daffy Duck, check out the new page! Click “Da 10 Docs” tab at the top!

  50. Faul T Wiring

Yay the Doctor wins. I like “Celly’s” look of suprise that he lost to the Doctor…again. If Doctor 2.5 gets taken to oblivion with Omega, since he is a projection, it wouldn’t affect the other Doctors would it?

As always, fantastic work Rich, and I’m looking forward to new pages.

  51. Whatsit

    @Da 10 Docs: ROFL!!
All it needed was Daffy with his beak in some insane position, like hanging off the top of his head after the explosion… :XD

  52. KatKlingon

    Da 10 Docs, :D :D :D
Bugs makes a pretty god Doctor there!

  53. Countess

Da 10 Docs is awesome in so many ways!

By the way, thanks Heather for your matter/antimatter explanation.

  54. Captain Chaotica

    OH my gods. HA…!

And Bugs as the Doc(tor)…_works_, somehow. They’re both wily, resourceful and love sending up pompous/authority types, after all…

    …Notorious

  55. Lily Knotwise

    COUNT IT.

    Also…

Omega: “Toymaker! You dare to make a fool of me!”

You’re doing a fine job yourself Omega, don’t give Celly all the credit.

  56. Lily Knotwise

I JUST DIED. DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. AND I’M STILL LAUGHING.

I AM SO CAP HAPPY FROM THAT.

That was PERFECT. It was like I was a kid again and watching Bugs Bunny on Saturday morning.

  57. Captain Shade

Ya know…I think Wile E. Coyote would make a good Master. I mean…”Super Genius” with over elaberate schemes, that get totaly derailed by his arch-nemesis, the Road Runner ( 3rd Doctor? ).

  58. Sten Darker

Perhaps…. Toymaker is made of neutral matter, just as the ground and air in this universe… ? That would work! I bet that’s why Omega diddn’t explode when toaching Toymakers robe, and yet still afraid of the normal matter Doctors!!! There it is! :D Gotta be it!

Hey Rich! Is that it!? :) ?

  59. Mreen

    Love Da Ten Docs!

Reminds me of one my favorite eps of Farscape, for some reason :D

    Thanks, Rich!

  60. DJ

Oh, Rich! Dear Richie! What a wonderful cross-over idea. The Who-Warner Brothers Universe. Love it. Did you see the Farscape episode where Crichton and Dargo spent half the episode in a Warner B cartoon? It was hysterically good. Thanks so much!

  61. Mreen

Sorry for the double comment- but Captain Shade…. 10 is so the Road Runner. Wears those sneakers and is often commenting on “an awful lot of running”

Jenny is sort of Roadrunner Jr, I guess :)

For everyone who feels that my Omega looks a lot like Daffy Duck, check out the new page! Click “Da 10 Docs” tab at the top!

    BAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  63. Time Lord Enthusiast

Yes! 2 beats Celly! Also, Da 10 Docs is hilarious!

  64. Fangarius

Funny you used the Looney Tunes in Da Docs, because in Looney Tunes Back in Action, the Daleks made a brief appearance in ‘Area 52′. Marvin freed them in hopes of eliminating them, but got ‘exterminated’ by the Daleks (in Toon fashion natch).

Also in an ‘outtake’, originally Bugs makes a reference to The Doctor (’now what was it that Time Lord told me about those pepperpots), then tricks the Daleks into destroying each other. (from the DVD).

Of course, Doctor #10 wasn’t too keen on Daffy doing a rendition of him as ‘The Ducktor.’ But that’s another tale for another time.

  65. Eocene4ever

Glitz probably came out of the TARDIS if that is a figure standing beside it.

  66. Ch1ps

Eh, “Omega” is spelt wrong in one of the panels. But ignoring that, I love how the Doc 2.5 simply shrugs metaphorically in response to Omega’s threats! I guess that’s a particular trait in each Doctor: simply act as if this danger is completely normal. :-D

  67. Ch1ps

PS. I LOVE your Daffy “Omega” Duck side-comic! :-D

  68. Sailorgreeny

Love Da 10 Docs, reminds me of watching Loony Toons as a kid. Once again I have to say I am really enjoying this Comic, it’s the first thing I check when I get up in the morning.

  69. LordManiMani

Da 10 Docs is amazing. You should do more specials like that in the future. Perhaps with Elmer as The Master or something like that :]

  70. Mitchell Craig

Rich: Da 10 Docs rocks da house, doc!
Refusenik 1 and Captain Shade: How about Elmer Fudd as the Sontarans? “Be vewy vewy quiet, we’re hunting Wutans…hahahahahahahhaha!” Or Porky Pig as the Brigadier – the mature Porky who sidekicked Daffy, that is.
We could probably go on all day.
Vulpis: There’s a sweet image – all Omega needs is a hug. Would’ve made a nice alternate ending to “Arc of Infinity”. Nyssa’s last line: “Doctor, you’ve done it ag….”
    Fade to white.

  71. Phoenix

Rich – Da 10 Docs – oh Blimey – LOL and wiping tears from eyes – made my morning already – you are bad man, bad. 10 would definitely be the road runner – meep meep

Will check back later for new Doctor page.

  72. Hark

HAHA!! Luv the Toymaker’s expression in the last panel

  73. Ammy

Toymaker’s face in last panel – absolutely priceless!

    @Lord President Lundar – I wouldn’t dare suggest Doc2 cheated, but…
