The 10 Doctors – Page 159

Omega lays out his plan to the projected 2.5th Doctor about how he intends to remove the Doctor from all of time and space so that it will all dissolve into chaos, from which he will rise as god of all time, space and matter.

The Doctor is flattered by the importance laid on his involvement in the plan.

Yay! I know it can be annoying, but first comment! Never done it before!
Also, love 2.5’s face and expression in the last panel!

  2. Gecks

aawwwww meggy thinks an awful lot of the doctor, how sweet ;)

gotta love a bad guy rant :)

  3. Lewis

“Whether you like it or not” – BRILLIANT!

  4. James

Fantastic comic keep up the good work

  5. Heather

Oh, I love it when the bad guys go all megalomaniacal and start raving like that. The second panel gave me a good chuckle – Omega whipping his hand out of the way before 2.5 could shake it. Priceless, Rich. :)

One slight nitpick – I think you’ll find the word “restructure” has that second “u” in it. ;)

@ Jayster: and yet you did it anyway. “I know that this will hurt you, but I’m going to hit you with a piece of 2×4 anyway.” That’s the next step in your line of logic, do you realise? Maybe I should have said nothing here but “FIFTH! FIFTH! WOW OMG I’M THE FIFTH PERSON TO POST!!!!!” See? Isn’t that just utterly obnoxious? Please everyone just stop doing that.

  6. nightfly

    Omega is monologuing…

  7. Rich

Heather: Argh. Good catch. I typed it rapidly this morning. Only that mistake, though… it’s pretty good for me.

    Gold star for you.

In regards to the “first post” stuff, I recognize that it’s now a ‘message board internet thing’ and all the complaining about it won’t stop it. It does mean that there’s a lot of readers commenting and people are excited to be first. So that’s good. However, I hate seeing posts where that’s ALL they say. If you’re going to be proud of your early positioning in the comments list, then PLEASE AT LEAST HAVE A COMMENT AS WELL!!!!
So, Jayster’s comment, while annoyingly paradoxical in just the way you pointed out, Heather, does at least have a comment in it.

  8. BRF

Ah, Omega, he of the meglomania second only to Davros…

I really like panel 5! How DARE the Toymaker ignore the mighty OMEGA, he who gave his life so that the Time Lords might come into being! He who forged the world of Antimatter by his own will! Master of the Ark of Infinity and true ruler of the Web of Time!… He who was defeated by a recorder…

  9. Countess

Only the Doctor can prevent the universe from crumbling (again)! And there’s nothing like a good evil villain rant when things aren’t going his way, like a spoiled child.
I love Ω’s stunned expression in panel 4a. How dare the Toymaker “sshhh” him! In fact I love all of panel 4. Rich, not only can you draw and tell a story, you also have a great sense of timing. You should do this sort of thing for a living ;)

  10. Mreen

Love the Toymaker shushing Omega – very serious game of Crazy Eights going on, can’t you see?
Love the megalomania rant, but panel 4 is my favorite :D

  11. IShallComeBackOhYesIShallComeBack

Omega is stealing the Trickster’s material!!! Please don’t tell me Mr Smith is coming into this. :P

  12. Countess

I meant panel 5. Sorry. Though I love panel 4 as well.

  13. Jayster

Heather: Sorry, I DID say that it can be annoying, but I never done the first comment before on a site with so much amazing comics- so you can’t blame me, can you? And I also said something related to the comic, as well.
Rich, panel 8 (or 10? not sure!) makes 2.5 very doctor-like!

  14. Percy

Unless Four somehow saves the day at some point, Doctor 2.5 might become my very favorite! (I think it’s the specs)
Love 2.5’s comment at the end. It highlights some weirdness about all those bad guys bent on destroying him; I mean, the place isn’t going to fall apart without the Doctor…although it would be kind of depressing for geeks like me… without Doctor Who I might have become (whisper it) a Star Trek fan… :D

  15. Jayster

Percy: Is Star Trek that good as everyone says it is? I had a little peek, and it looked quite tacky, no offence to any fans (just my opinion!)

  16. wulfae

Awwwww…. Speaking as a second generation Star Trek fan, I gotta say there’s good in it. Picard? (and by second generation, I mean both my parents stole the TVs when TOS was on. And we all watched next generation, DS9, Voyager (and to a lesser extent) Enterprise together. <3)

Though they also watched Doctor Who… XD

ANYWAY. YAY! We get to know what’s going on! Oh Omega, I always felt bad for him. I think it was established that he knew that he wouldn’t survive letting the Time Lords become what they are, and then he sort-of does, and goes crazy from isolation. :(

  17. mmm122

    I had a dream this comic ended early… ><

  18. Child of Zion

    Awww….2.5 is awesome!
    *Loves the “Shhhhhh”*
*Loves the flattered face and laughs at Omega*

    ~CoZ

  19. Phoenix

Rich – brilliant as always – love the Celestial Toymaker sshhussing (sp?) Omega’s monologue – you just can’t get reliable hencemen can you nowadays.

  20. Lewis

*sits and waits for a “well, it doesn’t matter” joke*

  21. wulfae

    Lewis: GROOOOOAN.

(*wishes she’d thought of it first*)

  22. ericinwisconsin

    Woo-hoo! I’m 22nd. Fear my 22nd-ish power!!

Seriously, great as always, Rich. I never dreamed that 2.5 would be so useful in a battle. Looks like he’s the monkey wrench in Omega’s plans.

  23. WhoRU?

Interesting turn of events. Well done Rich.

  24. Captain Chaotica

Heh. Oh, man. “I’m flattered” and “Whether you like it or not!” Whoo! And it just _keeps_ weirding me OUT how freakishly 2.5 really DOES look like both of them! I mean, weirded out in a _good_ way.

This and the other several before this that I didn’t comment on were all “win”, as they say on the Interblag–keep it up! Or rather, I don’t have to say that, ‘cos I KNOW you _will_. :)
In the meantime, I should get out my Hoyles Games disc again (with my character “Romana”, heh) and try out that more complicated version of Crazy Eights. Hmmm…

    …Notorious

  25. Lord President Lundar

    2.5 should be flattered. :)

  26. Remorse1994

I like the humour you’ve introduced over the last 2 pages.

  27. Remorse1994

I’ve just noticed rich, in the last panel omega’s collar seems to have vanished…

  28. KatKlingon

*Whew*, I came on at my usual time and yesterday’s page was up! This is better. I do hope ‘Celly’ doesn’t regret making the game more important than Omega!
Two.Five is indeed the Doctor! ‘Whether you like it or not.’ is priceless because only the Doctor would say that to Omega.
Interesting Omega deoesn’t recognize 2.5, he saw Two and Three standing together facing him in ‘The Three Doctors.’ Ah well, must mean the poor meglomaniac is just too confused to even try too think clearly now. :D

  29. Captain Shade

For the Toymaker, the game is ALWAYS more important. You’d think Ohmygod would notice the bit of 3 in 2.5. But then ol’ Omega-Mu was never that observant. Poor OldVega.

  30. Mreen

Remorse1994- you’re right! With all his ranting, I didnt even notice!

  31. Rich

    Remorse1994
    Argh. You’re right.
    Gold star for you.

  32. Eala Dubh

Oooooh, I don’t think so Omega. I think a certain Black Guardian would be a tad miffed to find an upstart treading on his toes. :)

  33. Parn

    The 4th panel is H I L A R I O U S ! *ssshhhhh* :) )
& in the 5th panel , anyone can feel Omega’s jaw dropping , in spite of the (supposedly emotionless) mask!
you’re Amazing Rich! both in drawing & ideas (esp little bits which makes anyone crack-up laughing !) :D

  34. Vulpis

Hmmm. Some of Omega’s …ire towards the Doc might be understandable if you think about how, just by being one of the few surviving Time Lords, he’s become the ‘Alpha’ of the species. ;-)

  35. CG

Loving the 6th Doctor reference ;)

  36. JustAWanderer

Oh boy. Another arch-villain, another megalomaniacal plan. I like how each of the villains has his/her/its/their own agenda, rather than all working together. (They’d all just be waiting for the right moment to stab each other in the back, anyway.)
Omega seriously needs to sign up for Davros’ “How to rant like a villain” long-distance learning course.

  37. JustAWanderer

Please excuse the double post. Glancing at the page again, I should add that I especially love Omega’s “Huh?” moment.

  38. Rassilon001

It simply must be said… I love how you’re slipping in classic dialouge from the series. It’s subtle, but it’s there.

  39. DoctorParadox

Guess what today is everyone? Its my birthday!!

  40. The TARDIS Traveller

Yup, Omega’s definately getting some tips from the Trickster when it comes to evil monolouges! Are we going to see him at any point by the way, seeing as he’s attempted to remove both the Doc and Sarah Jane from time aswell?

  41. Child of Zion

P.S. @ Jayster: I cannot vouch for anything but The Next Generation. That’s all I watch of Star Trek. But I have heard that it is the best, and I enjoy every minute of it.

P.S. @ Rich: So, is this white thing like Omega’s black hole, and everything is antimatter there, or is it more of a “neutral zone”, and both matter and antimatter can excist there?

  42. Other Chris

Hey, everybody up there, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Star Trek. I am a Trekkie. But I am also a Whovian. You think about that.

That said, I’m absolutely loving this sequence…The Toymaker is completely enthralled in his game and Omega’s outrage is the stuff of wild hysteric bwa-ha-has. I also think your reference to Six is very intriguing. “I am the Doctor…whether you like it or not.” Pretty much sums up the entire Colin Baker era, don’t it.

DoctorParadox: THIIIIS is your birthday song and it isn’t very long HEY!

TARDIS Traveler: Can’t. He showed up after The Runaway Bride, remember. Neither the Doc nor Sarah Jane have met him yet.

  43. Jayster

Other Chris: Just because the Doctor or Sarah Jane haven’t met him doesn’t mean that the Trickster won’t appear. It’s like the Cybermen meeting the 1st Doctor before the first ever Doctor Who episode! Judging from Rich’s creativity and the current situation in the comic, it can be likely!

  44. Lewis

I doubt anyone who hasn’t turned up at this stage, won’t. Especially if they’re a big villain like The Trickster. Sorry.

  45. Spiral

XD The 5th panel. Omega’s face. He just got TOLD

  46. Lewis

I love how, even though Omega has a constant blank expression, you can actually see what he’s thinking.

  47. Captain Chaotica

Other Chris: Ha! That’s funny…my friends and I do exactly that same birthday song at each other. Only we do it like, one person counts off and then we all clap our hands and say it in a _really_ fast, rhythmic way: “This-is, yourbirthdaysong, itwon’t, beverylong, seeya!” And then usually a sarcastic salute on “Seeya”. I wonder what that’s originally from…

As for Star Trek…myself, I was raised on it from birth. Seriously, my mom tells me that my _very first sentence_ had something to do with Star Trek (and if THAT isn’t a perfect sign that someone is just _destined_ to be a geek, I don’t know what is). My mom was a Classic Trekkie and so naturally her kids grew up with that universe. I am a Whovian _too_, but that’s just recently. I had HEARD of Who all my life, or most of it anyway, but I didn’t get around to being _able_ to see it (the way I always wanted to: in order) until just like, last year. This results in me thinking of things the wrong way round, i.e. something from Who that it did WAY before Trek reminds me of the Trek thing (as opposed to the Trek thing reminding me of Who). But I can’t help it. (Examples: Ian “Vulcan-neck-pinching” the warrior dude from “The Aztecs”, Susan and the “replicator” on board the TARDIS, any time the Daleks say “RESISTANCE IS FUTILE”…)

Put it this way: I like _both_ universes enough to where it makes me a bit uncomfortable when somebody sticks up for one by dissing the other. I mean _mean_ dissing, not light-hearted parody. That’s fine. I do that MYSELF, a lot. But I’ve always been of the “Hey, we’re all geeks, can’t we all just get along” school. And they have quite a few things in common!

    …Notorious

  48. Lily Knotwise

Omega: And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids-ahem- Doctors!

Sorry, it had to be said.

It’s funny, I’d love to have the first comment, but I always write too much and read it over too many times and by the time I posted it, it wouldn’t be first anymore. XD Also, I’m usually not up at 4 in the morning. Rich, you’re in Nova Scotia, right? Unless my timing’s all off, does that mean you upload new pages at 5 in the morning?? :S

  49. 494alex

lol XD the Toymaker is PRICELESS in Panel 4! Best. Comic. Ever! You’ve made my day, Rich :D DD

  50. Eilonwyn

@ Percy: I disagree. The universe *would* fall apart if the Doctor was taken out of the timeline. He’s just into too much. Imagine the paradoxes, and everything that would be taken out/put back in. It would be utter chaos.

And I like Star Trek as well, though I’ve only seen some Enterprise (a *long* time ago, and the last few seasons were mostly *lame* as I remember) and some originals. I was exposed to it before Doctor Who. Actually, we stopped taping the old Star Treks specifically *because* we started watching the new Doctor Who and it ate up all of our Star Trek time, but still. Now that we’ve more or less caught up (with the new episodes), maybe we’ll start watching Star Treks again. I prefer Doctor Who myself, but it’s a matter of preference, and it’s quite possible to like both at once. Doctor Who’s humor ages better.

  51. Rich

    Re: Star Trek
Me, I grew up knowing Star Trek (TOS) first. I learned about Doctor Who later and gobbled it up. But I”m a fan of various SF TVshows (Space:1999, Battlestar Galactica (TOS),Tremors, StarGate:SG1,etc etc)

That being said, the renaissance of Star Trek did all the things wrong that Doctor Who got right. They kept reimagining, reinventing the universe. Silly little continuity changes that kept leaving the fans floundering and trying to explain it off.
Why are the uniform colours switched around?
Why is the Enterprise insignia suddenly the symbol for the entire fleet (this one started with the first movie!)
    etc. etc.

I was expecting the same (or worse) from the Doctor Who rebirth, but they didn’t. It’s contiguous. The continuity flows and they really did make it the continuation of the series. That pleased me much.

    And Lily Knotwise:
I upload the pages as soon as they’re scanned, but they’ve got dates on ‘em. I update the page when I get up which is usually around 6:00 – 6:30 AM on a weekday. If I’m lucky, 7:00 -7:30 AM on a weekend, depending on how generous or sleepy Jenny if feeling.

  52. Time Lord Enthusiast

Omega in panel 5 is absolutely hilarious! I now absolutely love 2.5!

  53. Lily Knotwise

Ahh, I see. The time on these forums is off for me then, by one or two hours. According to the comments, the first comments are posted at 4 in the morning sometimes, which is SUPPOSED to be my time. And I know Nova Scotia is one hour ahead of me, so I thought “wow, I can’t believe Rich posts at 5 in the morning!”

That definitely makes much more sense though, haha. And if that is indeed the case, it’s almost a guarantee I’ll never get a first comment. XD It’s not a big deal though, I can still comment anyway. ^__^

  54. Percy

Jayster: I’ve got no idea; I’ve never even watched Star Trek! It’s just that I figure if Doctor Who wasn’t around, there’d be this Sci-Fi TV show shaped whole in my life which Star Trek might have filled… I’ve actually heard it was tacky and not too great…

  55. Antonius

You refuse to disappoint us Rich! Great work.

  56. Jay

Yes as you say those who live by the meglomania shall die or at the very least suffer dire porblems by it.

Hmmm is rassilon going to show up somehow. that woilll be most interesting if he does.

I like how the doctors are handeling it all as they should and show how he always ten steps ahead of any and all others.

The Doctor hmmm what would this all be withpout him!

  57. Darren

With Christmas just around the corner, here’s a festive link to the ‘daleklinks’ website. In the tradition of novelty yuletide songs, this Doctor Who cash-in record was released by the Go-Go’s, a semi-professional group from Newcastle (U.K.), just in time to hit the Christmas market of 1964.

    http://www.daleklinks.co.uk/daleks/dalek-audio/im-gonna-spend-my-christmas-with-a-dalek

Click on the highlighted ‘I’m gonna spend my Christmas with a Dalek’.

This is a must-listen-to record for all whovians. Almost as good as Pertwee’s ‘I am the Doctor’ record.

  58. Derek

Beautiful job, Rich. I just love how you drew Omega (though his collar-thing does disappear in the last pane).

  59. Countess

Darren, that song was hilarious! It’s as if they had heard that Daleks were popular and decided to write a song about them without ever having seen the show. “I’ll hug him underneath the mistletoe!”

Now I have to find Pertwee’s record. Is it available online?

    Mewy Chwistmas to you!

  60. Darren

Countess: The ‘Who is the Doctor’ record from 1972 can be found on a memorial page to Jon Pertwee on http://www.kastria.net/personal/pertwee/index.htm .

If you do a search on the page for “Who is the Doctor” which is the correct title, you can click on the highlighted ‘Listen Here’. I didn’t want to put the direct link to either song on this page due to copyright. If it’s hosted on someone else’s sites, there shouldn’t be any issues. Well, apart from people complaining about their ears bleeding. ;)

  61. scionofgrace

Quoting other Doctors: cool and kinda fun. Quoting other Doctors so it fits with the scene and would’ve been awesome even if it wasn’t a quote: FANTASTIC.

Also, I just want to add with all the others that the Toymaker’s “SHHHHH!” is hilarious.

  62. Rufus T. Firefly

XD i like how the toymaker shh’s omega and doc 2 shrugs. so nonchalant! i also like that 2.5 is flattered lol.

(ahh darren your liddle icon made me smile. i love laurel & hardy!)

  63. Whatsit

YAY! Fist-shaking and thunderous monologuing! :D
I knew they would tick Omega off!

  64. Sten Darker

lol! ToyMaker wasn’t the best choice, was it Omega?

    hmm… I don’t think anyones mentioned panel 5 yet… which was PERFECT! :D !!

I’m likin 2.5 finally coming out of his shell, however, you still seem to show very typical Doctor behavior… not much of his own personality yet.

    … I’m pretty sure I misspelled behavior… oh well :O

  65. Sten Darker

this quite possibly, might be my favorite page!

  66. Lisa

By the end of the page I could hear Stephen Thorne’s voice in my head as Omega. ^^ And I giggled at the “I am the Doctor, whether you like it or not” line. *thumbs up* as always.

  67. dragon64

And the crazy eights continues! Hilarious. :D This comic rocks so much. :D

Omega, keep building up his ego like that and by his fourth regeneration he’s going to consider himself “one of the stabilizing forces of the universe”.

Poor Omega. “Once my minion is done playing cards you’ll all be sorry!” *decides against patting him on the head as that would cause a disatrous explosion*

  68. Sean

You know, one could almost mistake panel five for Omega showing expression on his mask…

  69. WingedSerpent

Yes! The awesomeness of this comic continues.

I’m pretty sure if the Doctor were completely removed from the timeline, chaos and doom would ensue. We saw in “Turn Left” the terrible things that happened just because he was gone for two seasons worth of events – and that was just the 10th Doctor. Imagine if that suddenly there was no Doctor, period. Earth would have been doomed more times than I can count (i.e. too lazy), not to mention the various other ’saving the universe’ or ’saving ‘. Yeah, pretty much the universe, and not just one of them, would be pretty chaotic and lost without our beloved Doctor.

This seems to be a popular goal for nasty/evil people these days – ‘Ooh, I have an idea! Let’s remove the Doctor from existence and doom the universe to destroy itself. Yippee!’ I always wonder (with the exception of the Black Guardian) if these people think about what will happen to them. Omega will still have to deal with his ‘anti-matter/matter explosive-ness’ even if the universe blows itself to teeny-weeny bits. Maybe one might hit him and make him implode-explode. A little chaos is great for those chaos-eating Trickster’s Brigade folks, but dooming chaos might be a bit much.

    Oh well, they’ll fail anyway.

    Anywho, hurray for Rich!

  70. Mitchell Craig

Yakyakyakblahblahblah – Omega should pretty shut up.
    And then grow up.
‘Cause when I look at him I throw up.

By Rassilon’s pinky toe ring, I’m a poet and I don’t know it!

Panel 5 is priceless – I nearly expected Omega’s eyesockets to bulge out and his lower jaw to crash to the floor as wild noises erupt in the background.

As to comparing Star Trek and Doctor Who, I enjoy both. However, I’m really passionate about the wellspring from which all science fiction flows: namely, the written word. Asimov, Clarke, Bradbury, Heinlein, Sturgeon, Niven, Ellison – I could go on all day.
On a side note, I had the opportunity to meet Harlan Ellison at Heroes Con when I used to live in Charlotte, NC. I even purchased an autographed copy of his Dreams With Sharp Teeth omnibus. And some years previously, when he had a column in Future Life magazine, I wrote him a letter – you could have knocked me over with a feather when he sent me a postcard telling me how much I had given him a good laugh.
Ellison, by the by, is also a major DW fan – he wrote the introduction for a series of DW novels adapted from the classic series. Look for them.

Oh, thank you guys who suggested movies that would make cracking Doctor Who adventures. And be sure to check out DW Cast Members Who Would Rock Slave Leia’s Bikini on the forum.

Full ahead, Mister Sulu. Warp Factor One.

  71. Dr. Bunsen

Hurrah – 2.5 has ‘clever specs’! Brilliant!

  72. Sean

Panel Five: Just what is going on through Omega’s “head”…?

Omega: Great Gods, I *HIRED* this clown?!

  73. Jonn Wolfe

I’m going to need to start a playbook so I can keep up with all of the villainous plots. <_<

If 2.5 is a projection, and I’m still wrapping my head around that one… there wasn’t a regeneration ported to a hand on this one, If he’s killed – would that cause a time backlash from the Doctor’s void… or will he just poof out of existence, thereby causing 2 to say “Oh pooh.” ?

  74. Hark

  75. NicolaJo666

Like the updates, Rich :D . 2.5 looks a bit like 9 as WELL as 2 and 3.

  76. Mreen

dragon64 – “Once my minion is done playing cards you’ll all be sorry!”
I’m still not done laughing at that
WingedSerpent-yeah a lot villains go on about the amount of chaos they might get w/o the Doctor, but I always think that if they ever did succeed in removing him from time, they would be greatly disappointed with the nice orderly universe that resulted. The Doctor is a great big ball of chaotic energy, both attracted to and generating trouble … just happens to be a force for chaos on the good side, that’s all :D
Now Daleks – there’s a group into law and order – evil law and order, but there you go (I know, I know- to The Forum*whirling batman logo*)
Mitchell – I well remember Ellison’s intro to Doctor Who books – he basically insulted anyone idiotic enough to have liked anything in the scifi genre except Doctor Who. Since he wrote a lot of scifi/Star Trek himself, it wasnt meant to be taken that seriously, but as a fanish explosion of support of Doctor Who over any of those ’stupid other scifi shows’-to this day I picture him in Doctor Who pj’s standing on a Tom Baker bedsheet, shouting down other fans that his show is the best! :D

  77. Child of Zion

P.S. @ Rich: So, is this white thing like Omega’s black hole, and everything is antimatter there, or is it more of a “neutral zone”, and both matter and antimatter can excist there?

  78. Sten Darker

    I just noticed… 2.5 is wearing BRAINY SPECS!! :D !!!

  79. Grant

I love Omega’s expression in panel five. Just the blank stare as he watches the Toymaker.
